Tractor
Kioti DK50SE w/ loader and Woods 90x backhoe, Allis Chalmers C with front snowplow
The nearest dealer I have been able to find has quoted me a price of $19,900 for the tractor with "free loader" I am wondering if this is a good price, I'm not sure what the MSRP is on these tractors. The dealer claims he bought as many as possible last year to secure better prices, he says to order one new from Kioti now will be $1500 and some odd dollars more.

Actually the DK35se has been discontinued so your dealer must be referring to the DK40se for new orders.

There have been posts of people getting the DK40se or even DK45se for roughly the same price your dealer is quoting.

While the DK35se is an excellent tractor, it does not have nearly as strong a loader as the DK40se. Make sure you are not planning loader intensive work as otherwise it would be worthwhile upgrading.

I think Kioti still have ROPS DK35's left in the warehouse. There have not been any cab versions for a while now. MSRP before the price increase at the beginning of the month was $22,855 for the tractor. The price sounds fair and it is a great tractor for standard features VS the CK35.

HK, for much less than $22,855 a DK40SE Hydro can be had. Like Island said, it has a much better loader than either 35's.

BCD, I would decide which tractor I really want, then shop it around. The 35 uses the KL351 which can lift 1412lbs, The 40 uses the KL401 which can lift 2761lbs. So if the two tractor are even remotely close to the same price, I'd go with the 40
KIOTI - run ahead of the pack!

You did not state what all you would being doing with the tractor but if your wallet can handle it go with the DK40. You will not want for anything.

I will be doing mostly work in the woods, firewood road upkeep, snow removal, tilling, post hole drill maybe and of course backhoe, not alot of ground breaking implements planned other than what I will do with the tiller, no plow or disc/drag planned. Today I called some dealers and found I can get a DK40SE gear $400 cheaper than the 35hst. The dealer also suggested I look at the DS4110. He quoted me 19500 and 18600 respectively, both with loaders and gear tranny with industrial tires.

I will say this at the risk of starting the "storm" but you are going to miss that hydrostat for the kind of work you want to do.. If you was plowing the field, get the gear, if you are doing "close" work, and work you need to go slow, and changing directions often (loader work) then get the hydro.. The DK40 has a lot more lift ability, than the DK35, but the reason I have a DK35se instead of a DK40se is my wife after many back surgery's had trouble with the few extra inches the step was on the DK40se due to the larger tires. I had to give up the extra loader ability so that the wife could easily get on and off the tractor..But I would not give up my Hydro for all the tea in China. If you have never had a hydro, perhaps you would not miss it.. I dunno. but after using a hydro, at least with the type of work I do, I just could never go back. Good luck in what ever you decide.

yes I have used a hydro some but have never owned one, I am mainly looking at saving some money with the gear, and the hydros I have used I didn't care for the whiny noise and it felt almost like taking off driving a truck with the parking brake locked on the way they slow down and stop when u take pressure off the pedal, I know they are more convenient but I'm used to using the clutch. Also a friend of mine who's had more tractor experience than me swears the gear is more reliable tranny, and it will be less costly to repair, this may be bogus argument, I have no idea about that aspect of it. Also I have been told you lose pulling power going to the hydro, I don't know how much you lose but I would rather not lose any.

Dk35hst- no whine at all. Loss of pulling power- also I have not yet crossed a point to even need to use the 4x4. The engine is a brute torque making machine (often I think it's my 6.7 cummins in there). I understand where you're coming from on price but I would pay the little extra for the hst now, save ya from trading in and all that mess to end up at the same place later.

I am looking into a buying a hydro now after trying them out, but not a 35, a 50, the price difference in this case is minimal so I'm going bigger, I was very surprised at how nice and smooth the hydro trans was on the DK's. And with the 50 hp I won't be worried about losing a little power. The dealer said you can probably figure on losing around 5hp in pulling power when doing from gear to hydro with the same engine but since I am going up 10 from what I was considering I should have more than enough power for anything I will ever do.
