I just received my new tractor CK20 HST, and while I was shopping, I showed them to Payeur's mechanic. They found your ideal quite interesting. The full metal plate they usually installed should have been removed before installing mid PTO for the front snow blower ... With your plate no need to... They normally installed the full plate for forestry application, but for my needs, it was the best solution. Here are some pics of his interpretation.

Now home from our trip, I removed the plates for better pictures and easer measuring for the drawings. For the rear plate I used 3/16 material with pre made 1/4" angle brackets . For the front plate bracket I used scrap 1-1/2" angle. With brackets welded on I clamped the plates in place and drilled through the loader 5/8x2-9/16" (16x65mm) solid frame. Drilling through this frame was the most difficult part for me. For those who are working in a lot of brush a similar single, but longer plate on the other side can be made.

Thanks for the drawings and photos. Those look pretty straight forward to make especially if one leaves out the filter hatch.

I have looked at my own DK40se only to realize that the subframe for my Woods BH makes installing skid plates less of a simple bolt on operation. It also shows that the subframe provides a fair amount of protection against large immovable objects so that I may just install some simple 12 or 14 or 16 gauge covers to deflect bending branches that snap back after clearing the subframe. The subframe hangs below all the critical pieces and is either 1/2 or 3/4 inch by about 4 inch solid steel so I don't need to build anything that strong.

I'll have another look this weekend.

Nice work, a skid plate will also give me a good location to mount a selector valve for the grapple. I think I will weld tabs on the loader brackets instead of drilling them. CJ

Island Tractor, I have a DK40SE HST with Kioti 2485 back hoe. The rear guard will not work due to the BH subframe. Yours like that too?

I'm scouting it out. Bob's version would not be hard to make assuming I delete the filter hatch and just plan to remove the plates for the hydraulic filter changes. Still trying to figure out if there can be one universal design that will work with plain tractor, Kioti BH subframe and Woods BH subframe. Stay tuned, Murphy and I are investigating.

OK folks I need some help figuring out what is standard DK undercarriage and what is specific to my DK with Woods subframe. I am confused mostly by looking at the photos Bob42 posted initially showing the attachment points he used for the loader hose protective plate (the forward plate on the right side). I looked at my tractor and don't find the grey angled piece of ?frame that he bolted the plate to. My photos below show the same area around the spot where the four loader hoses join up with the FEL controller valves. In my photos anything black is Woods subframe and grey is Kioti. I cannot even find the grey piece that Bob bolted his skid plate on. I cannot tell if perhaps it is behind the black subframe in these photos or not.

In any case, it looks like subframes certainly change available mounting points in the area of the FEL control valves.

The main Hydraulic filter area is also different due to the black subframe seen in my photo. (Note the dent in my filter which indicates that a skid plate is certainly a good idea!).

Also, note the last photo of the area under the operator station on the left side of the tractor where all the electrical connectors are. That area is quite vulnerable to brush. I have managed to disconnect my 4wd controls twice by having brush pull the connectors apart so I would like to make a simple cover for that area. It is not vulnerable to big stuff as the subframe is much lower than the connectors but brush can snap back and do damage.

IT,

I think if I had your set up, I would try to run a sheet of metal from one side to the other and make a "pan" to cover the entire under body. To protect the hoses on the loader valve, I would angle the pan up....see how the ends are angled up for 2 inches Bob42's original shield? Just extend them at that angle far enough to cover the valve.

In other words, take the long plate from Bob42, turn it to run across the width of the tractor vs. the length & make it wider......make sense?
