Oil & Fuel 50hr service & gripe about shop manual...

If you look at my shop manuals you will see a lot of post-its on my pages. I take notes when I feel I need to add something or an Idea that is easier for me. No shop manual is good enough for me unless I wrote it.

OK, I THINK I've finally done my 50 hr service (most of it at least, I did not have gear oil for the front axle, so I will do that soon) and only 22 hours late...

But I'm still a n00b, so here are my questions...

I need you guys to tell me where the "hidden" zirks are that were not listed in the owners manual. I've seen other posts who said they found them, share this knowledge please my pack brothers!

I could not find the power steering zirk, and the 2 zirks for the 3pt (by the top link) would not take grease, just oozed around the zirk. How do I "unstick" them?

I am also having a bear of a time trying to figure out how to grease the pto shaft joint (where the two ends slide together) for my grinder and cutter. The plastic shield totally gets in the way, and the woods instructions specifically say not to seperate the two ends. How do I do that?

Regarding the secret zerks, you will need to provide your secret zerk account user ID and password as well as your mother's maiden name before we can answer that question.

Regarding the clogged zerk: lots of threads. Easiest thing is to remove it and soak it in diesel to clear out the obstruction which is undoubtedly dried grease plus dirt. There are other ways such as using a zerk rejuvinator but for a single zerk I'd just take it off and clean.

Regarding the PTO shaft. I have the same problem and gave up on the integrated lubrication zerks. I just pull out the shaft almost to the end and slather on some grease then push it back. Don't forget to lubricate the yoke at both ends though. Those can be a bear to get at and almost certainly require a flexible grease hose as well as moving the shaft around to get reasonable access especially at the attached implement side.

David press on the Zerk ball with the tip of your pocket knife (you do carry a pocket knife dont you?) and see if grease oozes out of the Zerk.. Some have no outlet for grease and refuse to take more. And as for the PTO shafts, yeah take them apart, and slather some grease on the part that goes inside, or put a big gob on the inside of the part that accepts the other half, and repeat if neccessary until you belive the parts are well coated. The whole idea is to make sure they don't stick together and rust out from water getting in there. That is all I do, and of course make sure to hit the zerks on the Cardin joints (U joints). be sure grease comes out of those, as it will help push out dirt and water. My cutter sits outside all winter, and I just greased it this weekend, Someone said, why don't you take the PTO shaft off in the fall, and take it inside?.. sounds like a good idea, I just didn't do it.

Please feel free to contact any Kioti authorized dealer for all service questions.
And then they gave me a list of dealers around here. I heard of this responce to other TBN members so I really don't think any other of us has gotten any thing else. I for one will never buy this product again.

It's not the product that is a problem, it is the lame leadership at Korporate Kioti USA. That is essentially just a marketing, parts and sales organization. They either keep their technical support staff on very very short leashes or hire people who don't know anything more than is in the owners manual to interact with customers. If they have any English speaking engineers they must be kept in a dungeon somewhere in North Carolina..

Essentially they are using a 1960's business model for customer support in an Internet era where the customer is often better informed than their own staff.

Can't knock the machine but support is not there. Does your sub-frame stay on or come off.

My Woods subframe stays on and is bolted in place by about thirty or forty large bolts.

I am pretty happy with the machine so far.. Oh there are a few little things.. like that control stick for the FEL.. it should have a dog leg in it so I don't keep pressing on it with my leg. and the float position is different than the Kubota's I have owned.. on the Kioti when you put it into float the bucket and arms drop like a rock.. You need to have the bucket near the ground or KA-Bang it hits hard.. the Kubota went down fairly gently, with a "hissing " sound. so there is some difference in the control valve the way it works. Ain't no big deal, you just have to get used to it.. Yeah I am finding out the manual sucks.. so do a lot of manuals on equipment that comes from overseas.. But the inconsistencies in the torque settings. seem to be just sloth or stupidity .. and of course I deal with a plethora of suppliers and manufactures, and I know how frustrating it can be to deal with someone who obviously knows a good deal less about their product than you do. It is all good, and pretty small stuff.

they must not like you. they have answered all 4 of my questions , and even called me about one issue concerning the rating of the oil i needed to use.

they must like me better. Personally i am UBER delighted with my purchase, and wouldn't hesitate in purchasing another Kioti product.
