My attempt at a SSQA for Kubota

/ My attempt at a SSQA for Kubota #21
countrybumpkin,

Thanks for your reply and help with some ideas for this project.

Here is a photo of the back of my bucket.

I don't have a lot of metal working tools to bring to bear on this project. I have a local fab shop that is willing to do small odds and ends for me. I thought about a template plus some accompanying CAD drawings for clarification.

If someone knows of a reasonable kit that can be altered to work, I'd look into that as well.

Thanks

Not sure on that one right off hand, I'll have to do some research and see what I can come up with.

countrybumpkin, Great Job, exactly what I'am planning except I don't have your talent. Could you take a few more close up pictures and explain the concept of the spring pressure. The tapered pins give you a tight fit and the springs maintain. Like what size is the hole how much of the pin goes in, any help or info would be great

Well I have been wishing I had a SSQA for a long time just never could see spending the money for one, so I finally broke down and built one With scrap I had laying around and some stuff from work. I have about 100 dollars in the whole project after buying paint and a few other minor stuff.

Here are some Adapter pics

All I can say is.. Wow!

You could make some cash by have members bring their buckets to you to transform them into Q/A's.

Nice work..

Thanks adiredneck.
ktm010 here is one of the threads were I found the specs for the bucket side plate. Here are a couple of pics for you if you need something else let me know. The pins engage about 90% of their full 1" width, as for the springs I have two sets on my set-up, the first set that are on the rods from the levers to the pins do two functions, one they keep pressure on the pins to keep them in place and also keeps things from rattling around. I looked at several brands of loaders and the different set-ups each had to do the same function, none seem to engage the pins the same amount, I even seen a cub cadet that the pins went completely past the tapper and the pins were loose fitting in the slots. I chose to use 1" Square pins a few brands use round. The second function of the springs keep the handles locked in the down position. The second set of springs are the black ones under the handles they keep pressure on the handles and hold them up in the unlocked position.

Very nice!

One suggestion - cut the lock pins a little shorter or install some kind of skid guard for them. If you shove the pin back in (back dragging over a rock...) the force will bugger up your mechanism. Maybe with profile of your bucket this is not a issue; you could also cut the pins off shorter.

thanks mwb I have thought about the back dragging issue of hitting a pin, it is not as bad as it looks in the picks but I have been thinking of a guard for them for a just in case scenario.

Hi,
New to the board and getting ready to build a QA for my loader so that I can switch between the bucket and fork lift and hay spear.

If you would give me some more detail on your latch setup I would make drawings and post for everyone to use. Give me dimensions from latch pin to hangle/anchor bolt. Dimensions of hangle. Details details details please! Send a "napkin" sketch or whatever.
I am a design drafter by trade and would be willing to make some nice drawings.
Thanks,
Charley
