I guess slightly invasive is a good description, if they leave the ten foot barrier, i just mow them down..had it over ten years.. They did stop a huge hole down on the back side of the house.. planted sprigs every 2 feet in the wash.... it is controllable with roundup...But you sure have privacy on your side...The privet varieties I am familiar with (Chinese and Japanese) are invasive and can create a nightmare down the road. They produce berries that birds spread. The escaped privet then overtakes the understory of wooded areas, crowding out native plants.
