BX 2360 60" deck adjustment question

The l-to-r measurement makes sense to me, but why would have have the f-to-b measurement tilted purposely by 1/4"? What would 1/4" inch off do that would improve the cut?

I understand it allows the deck to move the clippings more efficiently. Probably helps with lift and tip speed as well.

Focuses cutting at the leading edge which means a straight shot out the chute.

I wonder if the 1/8 -1/4 difference is due to the fact that the deck will torque a bit and be level front to back when the blades are at full speed?? Just a hunch....

Me too AFChief. I hit a F'n Water Main lid cover 2 weeks ago and cracked the weld on right front wheel. Thinking about taking it to dealer to have them fix it but don't know if its worth what the will charge. As of now I just have it raised a couple holes higher than the other wheels. BTW, are you the same AFChief that is on vets.yuku.com?

Nope, Not me.

I tried using a strap, a tree and a pry bar to straighten mine before I snapped it off. Running without it now. I finally used a bottle jack and blocks to get the deck almost straight. Just waiting for my bud to come over to tack the wheel mount back on for me.

Just to be clear, can you lock your deck in the top position? That is, deck is all the way up and the three point goes up and down while the deck stays at the top. Does your deck change height depending on the setting to the height adjustment knob? To me it sounds like your height adjustment knob is not working. The stepped cam may be loose or completley gone. The bolt holding mine on came loose after I got mine and it took a while to realize what the problem was. Good luck.

Hi Runner,
When I got my BX2230, the mower height control was broken right off the frame. No matter what height I set, it went right to the ground. I finally took the wheels off and it REALLY went (almost) to the ground. Now it stops at a reasonably good height, though I really need to do the calibration. I'm not convinced it is level. Need to get some new blades on it first though.

This is exactly what has happened to my BX2230. the shaft must have popped off the stepped cam under there - how do i fix it? maybe i need to start a new thread on this problem...

thanks!

Pull your mower off and crawl under the tractor. You should be able to see the cam if you get in the right spot. It looks like a big overgrown nut. Inside of it is the shaft and a 15mm nut screwed up inside the cam. The shaft goes up through the mounting bracket (part of the frame that broke for me) and extends up through the floor and has the plastic knob on it. The cam makes a stopping point for the lever on the back side of the lift arm pivot shaft.
Unless the lever on the back side has bent (I can't imagine!) or this shaft has slipped sideways, there should be no reason it doesn't engage. Now what I've discovered on mine is that first, the cam steps are sorta rounded off and the knob doesn't align quite straight on with the cam; it's off by 1/4 setting which is interesting because the spring to hold it in place will want it to fall back in line.

Take a look at my repair thread.

I didn't read closely enough on the previous post. I suppose it is possible the cam has fallen loose. I remember I got mine too tight when I put it on and couldn't turn it at all. If that's the case, just take off the knob and put a vice grips on the top of the shaft. Then crawl under it with a 15mm socket (coulda been 13mm, but I don't think so) with a 6 inch extension. A 3/8 drive rachet is enough wrench to tighten it back up.

Is your knob solid enough or can you move it around? You may have answered that question already and I've forgotten. There is only 1 nut on the whole thing that holds it together. If the shaft doesn't wiggle a lot, then the cam has got to be solidly mounted on the adjustment shaft because the nut is inside the cam.

Thanks i will take a look there. Its wierd, the bolt holding the adjuster knob is actually loose and the whole thing moves around. So it either broke the bolt or the nut, or something came loose.

We must have both been typing at the same time. Lol.

We're on the same wavelength.

If it's loose and the whole thing moves around, it may have broken off the frame like mine did. That wasn't a difficult repair, just a pain to get to it and weld it up. I posted some pictures in that thread that show where mine was broken.
