Nice job ... it looks good. I put used motor oil all over the inside plunger chamber ... and made sure all rollers are working....crawled in and used the hand grinder to touch the knives up as well.

The inside of everything looks great, all the sprockets, chains, etc. I knew the guy selling it and he told me it hasnt ever really been used,by the looks of it,it hasnt baled much at all. The only thing was it setting outside for a couple years has some rusty spots. I get some free time,my do a liquid over-haul this winter....

On another TBN post a guy lists the 315 as mfg between: 315 NH SQUARE BALER (8/76-4/82) http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/146796-new-holland-baler-haybine-numbers.html

Did you find a serial number?
It really doesn't matter if you can get parts.

Too bad the horse lady in MD didn't find one of those in the weeds with the
mowers and other stuff. Would her tractor handle a baler that size?

When are you going to try it out in the field?

13 acres at the house and farm all rolled up and sold. Nice to have 2 tractors one for cutting and baling and one for raking. If there is a second cut i will square bale it . If we get rain .

If it is a New Holland Mower is that a homemade curl plate on the outboard end?
I've got the old bent rod type that is two rods bent to make four springy
sections. I kept loosing them and the front holding plate in the field and praying the round baler didn't pick them up, so years ago I drilled and cottered past the nuts as well as using Nylock nuts.
which fixed that. The rods still liked to break off periodically from all the vibration, so I added a couple plates to hold them together further back. Still break one occasionally. You'd think something bright yellow would be easy to find in green/blue hay but it's not. I even tied red survey tape on the tips one year. Never have found the broken pieces in the fields and never in the hay. No one has ever called finding one in the ones sold either.
Biggest thing I hate now is I'm always poking my head into the end of one when I'm hooking the mower on or off the tractor in the fold up position.
Always looking for ideas to improve stuff.

Well I didn't notice that swath board until you pointed it out ... it looks like its oak and somehow its been hollowed ... gotta be a factory option?

Hope he gets back in and tells us more !!

What do your square bales weight you sale?

I have a scientific measuring system .... pick it up and say "yep its 60-65 Lbs"

I have never weighed one ... I just call them 60-65 lbs and then when a buyer picks them up and says "yep they are good" well that proves my method works!!!

I make a 35" bale ... works best in my accumulator and grapple system ... stacks very well on the trailers and in the barn ... now again this is pure farm science ... some may get a little longer or shorter. Windrow consistancy is important as well as speed ... if the hay gets light I shift up to get more going into the baler and then shift down when it gets thicker.
