About 5:45 a.m. this morning, it was not raining and I dumped about 1.4" of rain out of my gauge. And now before 6:30 a.m., it's raining again. I'm glad to see the rain, but I was hoping it would hold off a little while this morning, since I have to go, in just a few minutes, to pick up a young lady with 2 little kids and take them to the airport.

I was working on a house out at Lake Palestine yesterday and could hear the thunder most of the day. It was a bit of a race to see if I could finish before the rain hit, and somehow, I just made it. I loaded my tools in the rain, but all the wood was cut and installed before it hit. I drove home just ahead of the storm.

When it hit, it REALLY HIT!!!! Extremly strong winds and a downpour that was as heavy as I've ever seen. In half an hour I had close to two inches!!!!! This morning there is just over 2 1/2 inches in my gauge.

Forecast is for more today and tonight, then again on Friday.

So far I'm at 1-1/2" for the 2-day total, actually getting some runoff. I know Lake Bridgeport is over 5' low, one of the few area lakes that isnt to stage yet.

When I went to Houston, I decided to go down Hwy 6, very dry down around Navasota it appeared, but a nice drive , (met a real nice State Trooper in College Station!):D

Did the trooper charge you for the meeting?

Actually we had "mutual buddies" from my LEO day's:laughing: My running light wire had shorted, but I still had brake and turn lights, so he had stopped me for an "equipment infraction" and rightfully so. I would have been in a jam if someone rear-ended me. He wrote me a warning, but I have no doubt if I had been speeding or otherwise "rude" he would have done what was necessary. I wrote many a warning for minor equipment violations. I was thankful he stopped me since I had no idea.

Well Dennis, leaving for work is a lot better than leaving for the unemployment office.:confused2:

We got another 1/2" of rain yesterday, so our total for this storm is 1-1/2". It's not a spectacular amount of rain, but it sure is great for the first week in June. I've got to spray the garden again since all the Sevin washed off. I'll have to wait a bit until it drys out some. I tilled down some weeds and that soft ground grabs the water and holds on. I suspect it will be tomorrow or late this afternoon before I can walk the rows.

Oh yes, I have to pump more water out of my pond I'm still digging on. I had a large area dug out that is now filled with water. The other pond is doing nicely for volume. I'll post some photos in my pond thread soon.

I wound up with a grand total of 1.75" and now it appears to all be over until at least next Tuesday; just going to be hot and sunny.
