Funny that looks like the exact can i bought. Mine now holds 5 gallons level now that its broken in.

Have emptied and refilled my so called "5 gallon cans" several times now, they still only hold 4.5 gallons. How many times did you have to repeat that process to "break in" your cans?

Mine broke in pretty fast, but the key was leaving them filled for a while, which seemed to stretch them out. I find if they sit empty or mostly empty they seem to bow back in. I usually use them all at once so I refill the whole thing quickly after emptying it. When I fill I do it slowly and the diesel foam settles and the can bows out slightly and then it holds the rated amount. I'm usually filling 2 so I do one, then the other then top off the first one again.

Lets see -- is your halo on? dont go over fill line and dont leave cans in sun.

I'd leave your cans in sun tightly capped for a few hours..

I doubt if doing that would make them expand enough to get another half gallon in. Not worth the bother anyway.

Bill,
Why don't you take the cans back to the store where you bought them and raise a little rukus.
They may trade you for another brand or at least give you credit for the price for another
product from the store. I'm sure your not the first person to take them back.
Just make sure you try the shorts on for a fit before leaving the store:D
The longer we let all this consumer screwing go on the worse it gets.

I have not had that problem, i usually get more than 5 gallons in my cans as there all able to hold a premix for 2 stroke. I usually get 5.25 in my older cans i think and thats to the "safe" line and 5.5 if i fill them up to the spout. The only "new safty" can i own is a deisel and i really dont pay that close attention when i get it as my tractor only holds like 6 gallons so its not that important to me? I also sometimes will fill 2, 5 gallon cans when at the farm for a long weekend so even if the new one only held 4.5 and the old one held 5 its no big deal as that will get me like 16 hours on the tractor in itself!
