Buying Advice BX series with backhoe....3PH?

Am considering a BX with a backhoe and am wondering if it easily detaches and one can just as easily hook up an implement for 3PH and PTO use. For instance........a rotary cutter/bush hog type or tiller..........thanks....God bless.......Dennis

If your referring to a BX23/BX24/BX25 which come with FEL and BH then yes, no, sort of. The BH comes off fairly easy and Messicks has videos posted showing how easy. The 3ph arms usually do not come iwth these tractors or do not with the BX25. You have to buy the arms extra and cost me $200. When you remove the BH you put the arms on then you can add any 3ph implement just like any other tractor. Some people say it's easy and no big deal. I personally returned my arms for credit and bought another tractor for 3ph use, a B2320 but I'm not saying I'm the average (normal) tractor user..

I've got a BX-25 that came with a BH and 3pt hitch, hitch was thrown in with the cost of the tractor. After taking the BH off once or twice, I decided to invest in one of BXpanded's BH Dollies. It makes the job alot easier! And if you're handy and have the gear, you could certainly fab one up yourself. I'm handy, but don't have the welder, etc, so I paid for mine!

I regularly change out from BH to 3pt implements, just depends upon what I'm working on. Artisan had a real nice thread about installing his 3pt hitch for the first time on his BX, you might find that handy. I can take the BH off and install the 3pt hitch in about 20 minutes and really not even break a sweat. It's not hard, just time consuming getting the BH onto the dolly just so, installing the pins/retaining rings in the 3pt, etc, etc.

I'd say go for it, but I'm biased... My BX could do some real work if it had a good Operator!!

Edit: I now see you're talking about a BX22, and don't know how similar the machines are? Sorry for that...

I had the old bx22 and got a bx24...My BX22 was good except for the hyd leaks in the joystick and the loose muffler bracket. The 24 is very close but I hate the plastic.

If a good price, I would take the 22. But some dollies at harbor frieght and skip the link above.

he is right... unforunuately. For some reason, kubota seems to think BX24/25's don't use 3 pt as much we do. I know I use the 3 pt alot, but can't speak for others.

Yup and Kubota is now following what John Deere did years ago. Sad. ....I use my 3-pt like (1) time per year.

Do to the limited space at the back of the BX25; the 3PT is a B to install but no to bad onece you do it. I got tired of groveling in the dirt changing 3 PT implements so bought a QH. It is now a breeze to chane implements but a litle harder to set up after the BH is removed. I am working on some ideas to simplifying the 3PT to sreamline the 3PT assembly. When I get it purified I will post the solution. I use the BH almost as much as the 3PT implements so am changing over often.

I have a BX25 so a direct comparo is a bit hard as I understand the older BX's had a different hookup (prior to the 24's) but on my machine installing and removing the BH and Loader is quite easy, maybe 5 mins if I work quick.. Just keep the pins well lubed and be sure to remove the attachments on a level surface.

The 3pt on the other hand is another issue. It takes much longer than the other attachments to install. The rod that supports the tractor ends of the arms particularly. With its bushings, rod etc. its not a great design.

And I agree with the others, hookup of 3pt attachments after the arms are installed is very hard. The anti sway system sucks. First its inside the arms, second it usually requires a wrench to adjust. This takes time. A quick adjustment system should be standard, and the turnbuckles should be outside the arms. A quick hitch might be in the cards for me.
