As far as the 3038E having a much more powerful PTO, I'm not suprised it feels like that, those series tractors are designed for PTO performance, whereas the 3x20 deluxe series is meant for operator comfort, loader performance and ease of use.

Yes, that's exactly right the 3038e doesn't have the loader performance of the 3320, it's a PTO machine. I have the 485 BH on my 3320 and it's an animal. I hear people talking about stability of the 3 machines but TBN members aren't saying they go over anymore than other tractors. I lifted a back tire once with a full load of wet compost in the 73" bucket but that was because I had the tiller on the back and not the 1500# BH or the weight bucket.

All I need to pull is a 5 foot hog and I want the bucket and BH power over the PTO. Isn't the 3x20 about 800# heavier than the 3032e and 3038e?

Thanks for all the great info guys. I'll see what numbers i can get out of the dealer for trade and discounts.
3520 is looking like the machine for me. 3720 would be amazing and the 3320 would work well for me but if i can get a fare enough deal stepping up to the 3520 would be worth it.
Look like base MSRP price is 2000 bucks more to go from a 3320 to a 3520 on deeres web page. I'll press them hard for that 18%

I would say the 3520 is a safe bet. I wouldn't expect you to have any problems with the 3320, but I would get everything you can afford and that way you can't regret it later.

A good rule of thumb is to establish the size tractor you think you need, then, buy the next size up.

I agree with the others stating that you should go with the 3520 Cab; that is your best bet. Also, with the additional weight of the Cab on the tractor, the tractor will perform better with a turbo charger. In case you have any hesitation about having a turbo charger on the tractor's engine, below is what JD states about turbo chargers:

Fixed geometry turbocharger
Fixed geometry turbochargers are sized for a specific power range and optimized to provide excellent performance across the entire torque curve. They are also designed to maximize fuel economy between the engine's rated speed and peak torque.

Turbocharged
In turbocharged engines, the air is precompressed. Due to the higher pressure, more air is supplied into the combustion chamber allowing a corresponding increase in fuel injection, which results in greater engine output.

not every dealer is gonna give you 18 percent no matter how hard you try so dont hold your breath on that. I too almost bought the 3320 cab. I jumped up to the 3520 with Deluxe cab. You really should consider the few extra bucks for the deluxe version cab. you get so much more that would cost alot more in the long run. I got the 72"mmm as well. Heres some vid mowing with it

There's been a lot of talk on TBN about this subject. A turbo will give you more HP BUT you will also use more fuel. If you look at the specs for the turbo and normally aspired engines the turbo shows higher fuel consumption. Probably not much but you don't gain efficiency with a turbo and efficiency is the fuel usage determining factor.
Also,while the Deere turbos seem to be bullet proof they still have more parts and the more parts the bigger chance for parts break down. A turbo spins a fan from the exhaust very fast and with more HP in a smaller block you get more heat too.

Interesting opinion and I respect it, but, I am not in full agreement with it.

Don't worry about this talk about the turbo on the engine. The turbos have been on this model tractor from the start and they work well. JD wouldn't have put them on if they did not work and wouldn't have kept them on the Yanmar engines if they had a lot of problems. If you do have any concern whatsoever about the model tractor, I always find it best to go into the shop and speak to the mechanics; they can tell you what problems they have seen, if there is any thing major, how hard the problems (if any) are to fix and if the problems have or have not been fixed on model tractor you are looking to buy.

Agreed. As long as you let a turbo warm up and cool down a little longer than a regular diesel, you should be doing good.

I dont know that you need the 3720, but with a Cab I highly recommend the 3520 as a minimum.
