My new L3540 in the crate

My new L3540 and box blade arrived at the dealer today. Hopefully I'll have it delivered by the weekend. Still waiting on the core aerator and will probably be adding a 5ft Landpride rotary cutter.

I sold my B2920 about a month ago and have been without a tractor since. Very excited.

I started in 2009 with a used BX2200. Upgraded to a BX2360 with FEL a few months later. Used that until the summer of 2011 when I decided I needed a little more tractor with a backhoe, so I bought the B2920.

The L3540 is hopefully the last tractor I'll buy.

Congratulations, the 3540 is a really handy size. Are you putting any rear remotes, bucket hooks, loaded tires etc?

I would suggest 6' rotary cutter to match width of tractor. Request assembly instruction book, good info in there, they normally throw them away. Philip.

I'll be adding bucket hooks and will probably load the tires. I thought long and hard about the remotes, but they'll have to wait.

The tractor width is approximately 5ft, so I thought a 5ft cutter would be the best match. Would a 6ft be better?

I like my cutter to stick out just a little as it allows me to mow closer/slightly under fences and closer to other objects etc.

A 16inch bucket seems to work very well on that BH77 if thats what it is, a thumb is a great add on as well, mechanical or hydraulic you won't regret getting...enjoy:cool2:

Congratulations on your purchase. Sounds like a nice package. Have you considered a Flail Mower instead of the Rotary Cutter? Unless you are going to be using a Rotary Cutter to cut areas where a lot of small trees are a Flail Mower has several advantages. They make excellent ballast when the backhoe is off and you want to use the loader. They do not protrude out like a Rotary Cutter and allows for one to maneuver in some tight places. They do not throw rocks like a Rotary Cutter. They leave the cut area looking better in my opinion than a Rotary Cutter. They don't extend out back causing stability and maneuverability problems. Flail Mowers are much easier to store and take up less room in the equipment shed.

Does that model have the ability to adjust the width, I had mine set wide for stability. As to 5' vs 6', there is a pretty long thread on that somewhere, I don't remember if there was a consensus. As mentioned, for mowing along fences, one that sticks out a bit past your wheels can be helpful, but some just shift the cutter over to one side to trim. When mowing in tight places, especially with trees, it can be handy if you know that if your tractor fits through an opening so will your cutter.
