I wonder if the theater was a no carry zone and everyone was supposedly safe once inside? Further proof the police are only minutes away when seconds count.

Very sad day no doubt I dont know what a person or a bunch of them with carry guns could have done but its over now we will never know as always more questions than answers.

Our local theater doesn't allow patrons to carry weapons, so I wait until it comes out on DVD. Like Car Doc, I don't know if this person could have been stopped by legally armed patrons, but I won't put myself willingly in a situation where I know I am going to be totally defenseless and without any possible recourse other than just hoping I won't get killed or injured.

Yes, if only everyone carried there would be a lot fewer dead from guns. Obviously, more guns equals less gun deaths. More gun restrictions in violation of the Second Amendment means more dead from gunners. It should be mandatory that we all carry.

Only problem with the theatre's policy is...

KUSA reports that Holmes kicked down an emergency door at the theater, threw in some type of a smoke bomb and began shooting when moviegoers started to run.

If they open the outside door and come in with guns...

This sucks on so many levels...

I actually don't live in fear and never have. I worked with criminals from murders to child molesters for over thirty years and knowing the kind of people who walk among us, I simply find it preferable to have the means of defending myself, family and those around me.

I never spoke to a crime victim who said they were glad they didn't have a gun, but lots who said they wished they had.

I am not sure much could be done to stop this maniac. He obvisiously planned to take down as many as possible. No we cannot live in fear. But we too can be prepared. Obviously someone armed MAY have been able to stop him. But the main thing is. Be aware of Your surroundings at all time. Don't wait for something to happen to know where the exits are. When I am out in the field, as most of you would be. I am always "aware" of my surroundings. Weather, anything out of place. I am ready for the occasional poisonous snake but not living in fear of it.
