easy to blame a dead man, he was not even charged but he was the best target for the media to attack and lead the stupid masses in lock step

Guess he was lying everytime he told a new recruit's parents that he and the college would take care of their son. You want the glamour of the top job then you better be prepared for the responsibility.

No, just someone who finds that most people don't want their Saturday football taken away from them over just a few kids who should known better right? For an educational institution to promote behavior that is counter to their overall intent which is to educate our kids is really lacking focus. Too many schools are spending way too much time and money on things that have NOTHING to do with education.

As to getting beat, Sanducky needs to get beat and I am sure he will. As to Joe Paterno, the guy lost focus and couldn't even run his program right. If someone told you what he was told, would you act like he did? I doubt it.

Joe Paterno admitted knowing enough in my books when he told his superiors that Sandusky couldn't go in the locker room any more. What was that, about 10 years ago? The simple fact that Sandusky was allowed to continue to be a coach validates that every one of Joe Paterno's wins should be reversed in history and he should go down in as the most losing coach in history as should Penn State. These were boys, young boys. Anyone that supports Joe Paterno or Penn State supports the abuse young children. Simple fact.

Weren't there emails reported showing Paterno was aware of the situation back in 1998? If that is true, he put football before the welfare of children. That is damning and his statue deserves to be removed and Penn State needs to feel enough pain that they become an example and re-focus on their primary mission -- which is not a to be an NFL training camp.

I agree with Roy, sports in education has many downsides. If another game in any sport where never played again, it would make no real difference to anyone except those out of a sports-related job. Given that, it's odd that so much emphasis is placed on sports. Competitive sports fulfill a human need, something people identify with; college football has morphed into a way to make money by satisfying that need.

What's left of The PSU program (players, coaches, and staff) has no more to do with these crimes than any other respective NCAA football program in the nation. For those of us who believe this punishment is warranted, I ask the question:

Maybe it's time for the NCAA to wind itself down on a national level? No more million dollar coaches, no national television, no more 100 million dollar advertising contracts. Get the money out of college football and focus only on academics. Thoughts?

is the NCAA going to donate the fine to the so called "victims" I think not... so they are benefiting or am I missing something

From someone who thinks they got it right, I have no problem getting the millions out of college sports, capping the amounts. You can still nationally televise them without the money.

Interested to see in how it's implemented, but he said it would be used for national child abuse programs.
