Anyone else mowing?

=================================

For whatever reason, this post showed up in with my e-mails but not in the thread. I don't know if I'm breaking any rules doing this but I would like to reply to the question; so here goes:

Yes, I am mowing! Finally:ashamed:. As a result of circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to get around to starting with the haying.:( Oh, all right - I could have been a little less indolent but it is what it is. I'm paying for it now because in some places the stand is over 3' high and some has "lodged". I'll post some photos soon because the mower I'm using is one I rescued from the scrap heap the former owner left behind. It's no prize, I'll admit, but the price was right and I didn't have to lay out any cash to revive it:thumbsup: I'm hoping someone can tell me what make it is and how old. It got too dark tonight to take pictures so I will try tomorrow - if it doesn't rain.

As promised yesterday, I took some photos of the mower I reclaimed off the scrap heap. Sadly, shortly after, it broke down and now I need help identifying what make it is. On the first photo you can see where there used to be a decal (maybe?). The next one shows how the mower hitches up to the 3pth. Third, ready to head to another field with the sickle in the travel position. The last photo is of the broken bits from the pitman arm. I suspect that trying to weld them won't work. They look like some kind of cast metal. As for any identifying stamps on this machine, the only one I have found is a stamped "DH" on most of the fingers of the sickle bar. Any ideas on who built this mower and how I should try to repair it? I realize I probably should ask the repair question on the "Parts and Repair" forum. Meanwhile, I have just 2.5 more acres of hay to cut and my mower is busted:banghead: The brush hog is starting to look like the Plan B.

You might check out this site for a replacement this is an IH Pittman strap - looks similar - dont know about the ball size etc. tho. At least its a starting point. Pitman Strap Back IH - Mower Parts - Parts Webb's Sickle Service

I think if you welded that then added another hole maybe and used a U shaped piece of steel wrapped around this pittman it might stregthen it enough? Dont know the clearances you are dealing with.

I would just weld that one back together, maybe put on a little reinforcement strap on each side and it will be better than new.

Today's activities included mowing the weeds in the front lawn, grass died weeks ago...then installing the new toothbar and testing it out. I figured if it could dig through the hard clay now it could dig through anything. I guess everything has a learning curve and the toothbar is no different. It did reasonably well when I got the right bucket angle. I'm sure it'll do better when the ground isn't hard as rock.

I had to replace a nozzle adapter on my new Demco 3 pt hitch sprayer.
I finally got to make my first 80 gal batch of weed killer on last Monday, and found I had a cracked adapter.
Since I didnt have a spare adapter I had to live with that batch spraying wildly out of the far left spray nozzle.
I went to the sprayer dealer today and bought 4 complete spares (Nozzles, adapter, ball checks and nozzle nuts)

I fixed the broken one and hoping to be able to spray again on Saturday.

Question, does anyone have any advise on care of a roller pump.
This is my first one, All I did after the first batch was finished is filled the tank back up to about a third full, and went out and sprayed it off, and then went back and filled the tank again with fresh water, so I am hoping the trimec is at such a low level as to not hurt anything.

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.
