"lid on our Grill bouncing and a bushy tail."

I've never seen a possum with a bushy tail.
Are you sure it wasn't a raccoon?

Hey, a few bits of incorrect information keeps us on our toes...I suggest that you have a rare, endangered busy tail possum... and your back yard should be declared a special wild life habitat.... and all your neighbors need to bring their grills over in an effort to propagate this bushy tail possum.

OK you guys....OK....A country boy...here....I have lived in the country and on farms much of my childhood and most of my adult life....I know a coon from a possum, a fox from a coyote and squirrel from a rat...LOL:confused3:

This was a Possum or Opossum...and he had a bushy tail...not as bushy as a squirrel but bushier than a rats tail...
I have trapped possums and killed them before....I know my possums....a country boy can survive...they wrote that song ya know...:)

Anyway....here is my update...As it turns out the possum chewed up all my gas lines on the gas grill and even chewed through the burner & that is how he got up inside a closed grill....So we went to home depot this AM looking at Gas Grills....will be picking one up tomorrow...and here I thought I would just have to buy a new inside grid....they don't make replacement parts for mine...it is 14 yrs. old and it turns out it has had two recalls for fire hazard that I was not aware of...

So far...Possum - 1 Me - 0...

The adage "What they don't know won't hurt em" does not work here. Momma knows and she ain't happy. So off the to the store you go. Be sure to take the truck, because when get there and find out they don't stock the right size grate you want the next step is replace the grill. Heck that creature got untold hair, lice, and what not on the reat of the hood. Then as you head out the door with your new grill, she smiles and you and says " happy birthday hon" 2 months early. :)

SSdoxie......I should have read all the posts before we left this AM....that is why we have to go back tomorrow...so we have to take the truck to buy the grill you have predicted we would have to buy....and we have to buy it because they no longer stock the parts for our grill like you also predicted....I need to consult with you in the future before making any moves...You a psychic...You called it exactly.....

I have see lots of opossums and I have never seen one that comes close to being described as "bushytailed". These marsupials have no hair on the tail as far as I'm concerned. It's tail is prenhensil and the skin is virtually hairless.

AH-HA So there is such a thing.....IN SOUTH AMERICA! and australia

You either have an exotic species or an eye problem.

Anyway.... since your buying a new grill, I recomend you spend the extra money and get a Weber gas grill. I bought one a few years back and it was a great investment (and I have a real opossom problem here). Seriously, by far the best grill I have ever used and they way it's holding up it will be the last one I will ever buy. They provide a very even heat and the burners last (mine is 12 years old and has never been replaced....I grill a lot) for a very long time.

Pren.....It really was a possum with hair bristles sticking out from its tail....really...maybe bush denotes too much hair...but it was there and his tapered pink nose....Yeah, he was a possum...

As far as the Weber...from what I have gathered checking reviews on the internet....the older grills like yours and the one I am replacing ( 14 yrs. old ) lasted a long...long time but now the newer versions are mostly made in China and are junk and wear out and rust within 2 to 4 yrs....So that is why I want to spend as little as possible this time.....and skip the stainless steel ones with all the bells & whistles --just more to break.. So here is the one I think we are going to get tomorrow...see what you think.
