I'm wondering why bloodmeal would not attract opossums. Blood does.

you must never have used or been around bloodmeal.

for an animal that has a nise sensitive enough to hunt and find ( smell ) a grub 6" under ground in a flower bed.. blood meal might as well be tear gas or peper spray.

the stuff is soooooo strong with an amonia smell that it will nearly take your breath away. for a possum.. it's too much.... plus they can't forage witht hat strong smell around

once down.. it's not an issue for you.. unless you have the nose of a possum that can hunt prey living underground. IE.. SUPER DUPER NOSE..

in florida we are possum central. blood meal is the common prescription from the hardware stores and nuisance animal people / animal control.

Nope, never used or smelled it, I assumed it smelled like blood.
I have always had problems with opossums here. It has always confounded me because I have 3 ninja assasin dogs that won't hesitate to tear them or anything else that moves to pieces. So I ask myself. Why here, why not move in with the gay guy and his cats? I mean think of all the cat food....
I have lost count on the number of opossums I have killed and relcoated.
I once tried to grab one with a gloved hand. They seem so slow and stupid you see.

Do not try that! Wait until they pass out before you grab them. This one was like a rattler only faster.
So I guess I need some blood meal.Does it attract fire ants?

as for the tails.. pretty stringy.. might have a hair or 2 on them...

The oldest dog killed 2 opossums this am early. She will be 14 in October and weighs 17 lbs. I guess she's still got it!
