Actually, that's EXACTLY what you said. And it makes a HUGE difference because your "weight limit" of 2250 is not achievable in the 30 HP class if you're looking to have a brush hog OR a FEL on the tractor. If you want to take JUST the tractor, you might make it.
WRONG AGAIN.........go back and READ what I wrote......what I wrote was:
I figure the trailer weighs at least 1500, the brush hog at least 500, so that leaves me with 3000 for the tractor and I'd really like to stay at no more than 80-85% of towing capacity, so I'm looking at 2250 max for the weight of the tractor.
You see the part where I wrote "the brush hog at least 500"???
Unless I missed somewhere in my addition, 5000 pound max towing capacity - 1500 pounds for the trailer - 500 pounds for the brush hog = 3000 pounds......now, since I specified that I wanted to stay at 80-85% of towing capacity.....and, since I can't easily reduce the weight of the trailer or the brush hog, I'd expect that the weight would have to be reduced on the tractor........since 85% of 5000 pounds is 4250 and, since I figured on at least 2000 pounds combined weight for the brush hog and trailer (1500 + 500)......that leaves me with 2250 pounds for the weight of the TRACTOR!
Did you get it, or do you need to go get a calculator??.....go ahead, I'll wait.
So, you've been towing for 30 years but you have a comparatively "small" tow vehicle. In addition, you don't seem to understand that the size and kind of trailer that you will need will be in the 2000-2500lb range, nowhere NEAR the 1500 you estimated.
So, because I have a smaller tow vehicle now means I can't have 30 years experience towing?? Really, how do you get to that conclusion?? Not that I need to prove ANYTHING to you, but, among other things I have towed over the years, I use to drag race and towed a trailer carrying a 3000 pound race car and all the extra stuff necessary to run it......with a different tow vehicle than I have now........I don't drag race anymore, so I don't need a larger tow vehicle on a regular basis......now, please tell me why I need a 2500 pound trailer to tow a tractor and brush hog that weighs less than 3000 pounds...... heck, I have towed a 2000 pound load on a single axle 5x10 utility trailer!!
If you want an answer to a specific question, then ask that specific question. You muddied these waters yourself when you added in all of the detail about tow vehicle, max rating, blah blah blah.
I did ask a specific question which was "I'm currently looking at the Kubota B3300 which, according to Kubota, weighs around 1900 without the FEL, but would appreciate any other suggestions in the 30 horsepower class that fit within the weight limit.".......YOU decided that I needed to give you more info about my tow vehicle in order for you to answer the simple question I asked.....then you got all butt hurt when I told you that no other info was needed to answer the question I asked and, NOW, you tell me I muddied the water with the details I gave about the tow vehicle.......what a laugh!! First it's not enough detail for you to answer the question and now it's too much........that is GOOD!!!
I've seen people come into a forum and ask what they
believe is a simple question and then get quite pi**y when folks offer up legitimate responses with warning that they feel are completely unwarranted. Your demeanor and attitude toward this forum and all of the members that are truly interested in helping you is appalling.
