Can anyone identify the animal which left their paw print on my trail?

Looks like a deer hoof

YUP, deer.

Oh yeah, its deer and there is probably many more. Good eating though.

Yes, definitely a deer. Maybe a fallow deer or some other small species. That looks like a doe print because the ground looks soft enough to show the dewclaw tips behind the main hoof on a heavier buck.

Thanks Guys thats what my brother said, but I have yet to see one on the property during the day or night for that matter. Do they have a habit of travelling at night?

A lot of deer like animals have a "habit" of eluding predators. That includes the 2 legged kind. They do what ever it takes to stay a little bit secretive.. Especially when they are small. So yes some are more nocturnal, and even then ones that come out during the day, have a lot of natural camouflage. Also your eyes may not be used to seeing deer, because you have not trained your eyes to see deer. Once you get used to spotting them, they are easy to see. In other words the more deer you see, the more deer you WILL see.

I'll take some more pics tomorrow to show you all. I've just cut a new track and removed blackberry bushes and weeds but its still too wet to add gravel and I was thinking it might be Kangaroo Paw having seen at least 10 a few weeks ago as apparently there are thousands in plague proportions in the region for hunting. Its been the wettest year in ages and cant do much except churn up a mess with my new Kubota.
