you guys are forgetting that that hole is ALSO there to drain oil from the trans input shaft seal.. not JUST the rear main.....

I'm not sure what you mean Joe by the two mixing, it's a dry housing.

yep.. often a 4$ input shaft seal and a gasket.. and some will not repalce it on a 150-500+ $ clutch job.

as for the mixing.. I'm not sure what he's talking about either. as you point out.. this is the cry cavity of the clutch bennhouing. not like its a seal between crankcase oil and trans oil.. etc...????

Thank you guys. It is not pouring out, just some drops on the ground. But, I have a couple places that leak (drops on the ground). It really drops after use. I can't thank you enough for the help, being new to tractors and the 135, you guys are a great resource.

Agreed. Maybe one of those seals or both of them are bad. Regardless the OP has a fun :eek: job ahead of him.

Engine oil doesn't get into the transmission fluid, it drains out the weep hole. Effectively it prevents them from contaminating each other, usually engine oil into the transmission. I have not torn mine down, but this is my understanding, no?

completely wrong.

the rear main seal of the crankcase can leak into the dry area of the clutch bellhousing.

the tranny input shaft seal can leak into the dry area of the clutch bellhousing.

both oils then drain out the weep hole instead of contaminating the clutch.. hopefully.

the tranny is a seperate sump AFT of the dry compartment where the clutch is.

the crankcase is a seperate sump AHEAD of the clutch bellhousing.

Again I have not torn mine down, but if the "dry area of the clutch bell housing" is between the rear main seal in front and the transmission input shaft to the rear and the "dry area" has a weep hole, how is the engine oil going to get into the transmission? Not trying to question, just trying to understand. Never had a reason to tear into mine.

I never said it could!

YOU'RE post #15 mentioned engine oil contaminating tranny oil.. which.. it CAN't.. that's where the confusion is coming from. :)
