Any idea what a fair price would be on a good used LR72 with gauge wheels?

I have an LR84 and the tines are straight in line and not offset and staggered like the one in the photo.
Beats me but it almost looks like two things clamped together?


**Edit--I'll add it is two pieces clamped together. You can see where some tines were removed and apparently bolted to a piece in front that is clamped on. Only some of the tines are actually clamped to the LR72. Look close.

It's an interesting design concept, however, and with thinner and sharpened tines would make a great industrial quality de-thatcher or scarifier type thing.

That does look modified. My LR72 also has the tines in a row and all the spaces are filled. Looks like some tines are missing. It would be interesting to see a front/side shot to see how the tines on this one are staggered. I paid about $850 for mine.

I purchased a LR72 with gauge wheels (in very good condition) and 15ea additional replacement tines off Craig's List last year for $435. However, I agree with Sixdogs and Deerhead that all the tines on my LR72 are in a row.

I see your point now. See this side shot. Would you let theses modifications keep you from buying it?

I was just quoted $975 for a new Woods LR84, the Landpride version was similar priced. Those aren't Woods brand gauge wheels either.

Other than the missing tines, it looks pretty sound. Like sixdogs said it appears to be an industrial dethatcher. If I were buying it I would find out the price to replace the missing tines to make it whole again and figure that in the price. What are they asking?

First, I would find out if the seller had the tines that were removed to make it whole again. Second, ask yourself if you are going to use it as the seller has it set up. For all we know he tried a modification and it didn't work as planned or it works great for his intended purpose, I'm just not exactly sure what it was. I wouldn't want to be changing that back and forth between rake and "whatever it does".

If it were me and he had all the tines I would offer him $550 plus he could keep the clamps and the added front bar. The $650 price doesn't seem way out of line.

Replacing the tines would be costly. You probably need a heavier duty rake for you kioti. It will not be wider than your tractor when you angle it.

Ok, thanks. Thinking I'll pass with all the questions. The main bar looks a little crooked in one of the pics. Might be why it was repainted. What brand would you recommend for a 45 hp tractor.

I may consider the everything attachments rake, or a landpride. I know a LR72 is way too weak because I have one and I used it behind the 8n and it bent raking the driveway and of course a 84" would bend easier.

What is your intended use and is this the best implement for the job? The one you show the picture of, I wouldn't pay much at all for it, perhaps $200 or less.

Planned on using it to get up grass clods and rocks while prepping yard for seed and to get roots and rocks out of some newly cleared land. Finally, have a stand of pines that needs cleaning up so I can start bailing pine needles. I see EA has a pine needle rack but thought it would be to flimsy for these tasks. Is this the right tool?

See king cutter has a 84" model for $499. 1 5/16 teeth. Wonder how that would hold up?
