Hey Finley, great to read about another young JD owner in the hills of WV. I was 26 last year when I purchased my 2520 and experienced the same feelings of not being taken seriously that you described. The deal was sealed with a handshake and my salesman "put my name" on one of the machines on the lot, but it was probably 5-7 business days after that until the paperwork was all ready to fill out and sign.

Keep us updated. Did you get your tractor yet? I'm sure you'll find the 1026 to be a very capable machine and will enjoy the productivity it will provide you.

No I haven't received it yet. They were supposed to be getting the backhoe in at the beginning of last week and said they would be calling once it was all assembled, so I'm expecting a call sometime during this week, I hope.

You'll feel better once it comes in. I just used mine to clear off some motorcycle trails in wv. It is a good off road machine when it's dry.

The key is to keep the bucket low and swing the hoe uphill. Think of it as your tail to stay shiny side up.

I agree ,,didn't clear motorcycle trail ,but was clearing some trails for the gator.
and remember to keep it in 4wd going down hills especially with fel on and don't forget the weight box if BH isn't on.

I got a call from the dealer this morning and they are planning on delivering it thursday. They are going to fill the rear tires tomorrow and it should be ready for delivery. About how much weight does the ballast box add? I didn't get one, and was planning on making something I can attach as a substitute.

55 gallon drum filled with sand would work well

For the first year I just put the BH back on then using the loader. I eventually got a weight box which is filled with gravel (I can adjust the weight and it dries out nicely) which I understand is about 700lbs. It really is a whole different animal with the weight box than with the hoe, blade, box, or anything else I use in back... It feels much more stable with the weight box as it is a lot of weight, but close and low.

Well, I was supposed to take delivery of my tractor today, but it never happened. When the salesman called me tuesday he said he would call me back this morning and tell me what time they would be delivering it so I could be home, and that they would try to deliver it when I got home from work around 3:30 so I didn't have to leave early. I never received a call and the tractor was never delivered. I know I could call and ask what happened, but I don't feel like I should have to check in on them every five minutes when they told me it was going to be here today. Even if something came up and they couldn't bring it they could have at least let me know. I'm really thinking about telling them just to keep and go somewhere else if this is any indication of how their service is going to be.

I know what you mean but just stay cool, remember, they are salesmen. They are trained to tell you what you want to hear.

Well I stand corrected. A little after seven, without notice, a truck pulls in hauling my tractor. He unloaded it and showed me the ins and outs and was on his way. He had some trouble getting the autoconnect to work, we ended up adjusting the nuts on the front hanger and got it to connect. They also didn't have a 12" bucket, so they threw a 8" on till they could get the other in. They are gonna deliver it and give the deck a once over to make sure everything it alright. FINALLY! I can't quit looking at it!
