That's not a food plot ,but a bait pile.Not legal in my state.Funny on another forum guys we argueing that a bait pile was not different than a food plot.Food plots take time,money and equiptment:all a bait pile takes is money.

Actually, the fellow that gave us the pic does not hunt or allow others to hunt on his farm. This is Just for pictures and weekend view for the grand kids. I don't know how that would be classified? Ken Sweet

I got 3 small plots in last weekend. It's been a tough year with fabricating n refabricating the equipment to put these in. We were able to plow a plot roughly 18' x 120', lime/fertilize/seed with a mix of tetraploid ryegrass/rape/berseem clover in June. It looked great after a month with few weeds and lots of evidence of grazing. Unfortunately i didn't get either a trail cam or exclusion cage in place that time. This past weekend we planted a mix of rape and barkant turnips in a 3 plots of roughly 30' diameter, 50' x 120' and 30' x 75'. Got fertilized/limed/seeded just in time for this week's rains here in PA.
We used a 'ripper', spring harrow, homemade disk harrow and cultipacker that i spent most of the last 8 months messing with. All equipment had to be pulled with a 450cc Yamaha big bear as no tractor available for our use. Lots of work but also great satisfaction to see the modifications panning out.

We just planted 2.5 acers of a clover mix & cultipacked it with our new cultipacker. Our corn is doing great considering how dry it has been here.

Ken, I planted a mix of two pounds of each except the oates per acre Alice white clover, Kopu II,Jumbo Ladino,Alta Swede Mammouth Red & some oates. The cultipacker was a great addition to our food plat arsenal. I think the model is a 22R from the Parker Plow Co. Richmond Mich. Did you ever hear of them ? Any good ? It appears to be in great shape no cracks, welds or broken wheels.

That is a good variation of legumes. I never heard of Parker Plow, however, that don't mean much. I like the way it is built. Older cultipackers are simple technology and built out of good material and not much can go wrong. I discover a new (to me) brand of cultipacker about every week. Ken Sweet

Here are pictures of my first attempt. Planted two half acre plots. I spread clover/alfalfa with a cover of wheat on Aug. 31 just as Issac arrived. Photos taken 6 days later.
