I also have 3 speeding tickets in the first 8 months of driving it.

I LOVE that vehicle.

I'm thinking you better quit driving it before you can't legally drive at all! :)

That is true for any oil cooled turbo, I was specifically speaking to keeping the vanes in a VGT functioning fluidly.

Thanks. Highway on ramps are where I blow the carbon out of my truck. Will keep that in mind if I buy a Duramax next time around. :)

Both 7.3 and 6.0 are oil cooled. The 6.0 uses a goofy Variable vane turbo that does get gooped up.

The VV Turbo is what everyone is using now days. Its much more efficient than a waste gate. Late model Dmax trucks started using the VV turbo also after Ford did it with the 6.0L. Cummins got on board with with the 6.7.

They also have coolers on them.

Your F250 with the 6.0L has one. It works so good you never knew you had it.;)

Chris, maybe I expect too much. Have not had any problems with the drive train, you'd never know it has 135,000 miles, runs no different that it did when I bought it. I don't consider maintenance items as problems. For a while, I had what seemed like endless "check engine" issues. Dealer finally took care of it but many trips there and lost time. It is somewhat like someone here said, power window motor, fan clutch, air conditioner clutch, ignition switch....... Not big huge things, just annoying. Some of it may be due to not being repaired as it should have. Front wheel bearing, use to be twenty bucks and a little labor took care of front wheel bearings. Not any more. Within two years, I had to have the left front replaced twice and the right front once. I take excellent care of my vehicles but I don't really know about the previous owner. Maybe if I buy new instead of used?

This has been my GM experience also. I have owned 4 and they seemed to nickle and dime me to death and always seemed to need something. Like you said, the power trains seemed to be good except for a blown motor I had, S-10 Blazer, and injector and glow plug issues, Duramax, but all in all they seemed decent. It was just the rest of the vehicle surrounding these power plants that left a lot to be desired for me.

Let them cool down properly, use a good quality oil, and DO NOT extend the drain intervals.

Here's the thing about oil changes... this 2011 Flex just tells me when the oil is dirty. One was 7,500 miles, one was like 10K!

It is crazy... the dealer still puts 3,500 mile stickers in the window though!

I bought an ecoboost crewcab 4wd for my wife. We love it. It has 38k miles or pretty close. We have had no problems and the little truck will pull. I like it better than my Chevy hd, goes effortlessly. Wish we had another. This is our first Ford to own. I hope it continues to do well.

I change by a set mileage, not by OLM. Usually 5,000 miles/8,000 kms max.

I change my oil at 10k miles or every fall (change the oil/filter when I put the snowtires on in Oct or Nov) and I change the filter again when the snowtires come off in March.
I use Mobil1 5W-30 and Mann filters (both the Caravan and the Volvo take the same filter)

Where do you buy the Mann filters?
