Buying Advice L, M, or MX series? Can you offer guidance?

Every sales guy I have talked to in the past two weeks actively shopping knows less than most people who have posted here about Kubotas lineup. Some know almost nothing. Of the five i have talked to only one was at all knowledgeable. Maybe just my 2 dealers but beware. That was also reflected in price quotes. $1000 off kubota rebate was missed by multiple.

True that.... I've been shopping for 3 months now. I'm on my 5th dealer. This one seems to know the most and is most familiar with the bigger AG size tractors.

I actually thought I had a NH T4040 bought for two weeks, then found out it wasn't available.... Go figure.

So now I'm working on a M9540HD12. I'm not gonna say I'm buying it until I have it loaded on my trailer.... :(

just read the thread, a bit late but I have only had hst in the 2 L series I have owned, L3230 and L5030. I am not familiar with gear shifting but I will say that the loader work is so fast with hst, by the time your bucket is full your backing up without a thought. I also had the SSQA and run forks, makes the switch very painless. I had about 500 hrs on each with no problems. Great thread. I'm almost ready for another...wouldn't even consider a non hst.

Well, that is the direction I'm going too. Looks like my BX will sell tomorrow. I'll be visiting my dealer one more time to pick something (Lxxxx or MX5100/4700) out.

New MX5100

I'll post pictures soon (as if everybody out there hasn't seen a few dozen of these already). But to recap, I sold the BX25 for $14,000 to a great guy living about an hour away from me. My Kubota dealer offered me a very reasonable $6000 on the Massey Ferguson I had to trade in.

He arrived with my new Kubota on the back of his truck, unloaded, and prepared to load my Massey trade. I found that...I just couldn't trade it in. I purchased that tractor with my Dad, who has since passed away. Even though I readily admit that it makes all the sense in the world to do maintenance on just one tractor, I couldn't bring myself to leave it go. I kept the Massey, and now have two tractors.

So, alongside the Massey now sits an MX5100 with HST, front end loader, and a bunch of acres to mow this fall. Ag tires are on it, and loaded. I skipped the rear remotes at this time, and will bug all of you here for advice on which type to install when/if I have the need. Great tractor so far, with the exception of a starting issue, which is detailed on the Owning/Operating section.

I can certainly understand keeping the Massey Ferguson, we still have the 1987 vintage MF375 I helped my father in law pick out and on which we both spent a lot of hours as well as dad's old 1955 Ford 600 he bought new, he used it all his life.

I looked at the thread on owning/operating and I'm not sure it is a problem so much as a difference. Our Kubotas smoke more and sound different than our MF too; may be the difference in the injection system and Tier IV compliant engines.

Congrats on the new tractor and also good call on keeping the old one! If you need any bed time reading on installing rear remotes on a kubota just check out the link in my sig.

Looking forward to those pics! They never get old.
