From Huck Finn: “Yo' ole father doan' know yit what he's a-gwyne to do. Sometimes he spec he'll go 'way, en den agin he spec he'll stay. De bes' way is to res' easy en let de ole man take his own way. Dey's two angels hoverin' roun' 'bout him.” The reason for this is obvious in conveying the characters speech pattern and flavor of the time.
In normal day to day writing, the intent is to communicate, when one strays from commonly used words, spelling, grammar etc., one runs the risk of failing to be fully understood by others. Such writing appears to be an affectation and I do have trouble reading and understanding it.
Just a random observation that came to me after reading this.
