Understand- I work my little beast hard but with TLC also. Just curious if you had do anything that you recall that might have caused the clutch issue. Mine seeems to just dig holes with all 4 tires when it won't move forward while filling the bucket in low range. In med range I can stall the motor if taking to big of a "bite",
Good luck with the repair and keep us Mahindraites in the loop on what you find.

Kneedeep,
I'm guessing it would be me not keeping free play in the pedal.

Brandi, I would try to adjust that free play, you may have some life left in that clutch.

+1 I would definitely try adjusting and readjusting before committing to split the tractor.

Galen,
That is what I decided to do after my last post. That was what I am thinking. I will adjust it tomorrow afternoon.

Brandi you are just to hard on equipment!!!:laughing: I know what ya mean about tackling yourself. That's what I was facing this spring with the Massey. I could have done it but it but due to my work schedule it would have taken a month or two to get it done. You are also right about not having done it before. You need to pay close attention to disassembly so you don't miss any of those little things that go flying. For me it was a no brainer. Mechanic came and split the tractor, we diagnosed the problem and ordered the parts. When they came in I gave hima a call and he came over and reassembled it. Only hard part for me was swallowing the bill.:eek: But it was better than if I had it done at the dealer. Roving mechanic has lower overhead which is passed on to the customer in LOWER rates!!!:cool2::cool2:

My Mahindra dealer's service manager says driving a tractor into a dirt pile in higher gears can cause a clutch to go out. I have been going into my pond's spoils clay pile in 4th (first gear mid range) gear and he said that would do it. He said use low range for loading dirt. Since I will be taking the BH subframe off and the loader, I may decide to go ahead and do it myself. Buy a 4 ton floor jack and rent one also and a 3 or 4 ton engine hoist. The engine hoist will be for the FEL frame mount. Ballpark dealer shop would cost........$2500 after I remove the BH subframe. My dealer's going shop rate is $80 an hour.
Gotta go to bed now.

Ed,
I was wondering if you was gonna chime in here. Can you sent that mechanic down here. I think, as I remember, your bill being around $1200. Is that about right?

Actually the parts bill was just over $1,000.00. The labor was $800.00 which was about 1/2 of what it would have been at the dealer. I think if you paid him travel to get there and back your dealer could double his rate and it would still be cheaper.

I had to split mine due to the PTO coupler failure. While we had it open I had him replace the clutch discs. Yes I have a dual disc clutch. Didn't do the pressure plate it checked out ok. That would have added another $300.00 in parts.

Ed,
What did Y'all use to support the front and rear halves as Y'all rolled it apart. Two floor jacks? Or did Y'all block up the front and roll the back away from it?
How did Hurricane Sandy affect Y'all? Is Dougster okay? I haven't heard from him?

I wasn't there when he split it but ususlly you block up the rear and slide the front. Make sure you put wedges between the frame and the front axle so it can't piviot. What really works good on the front end is a roller stand. That way you don't have to transfer from jack to stand and back again.

Storm didn't really bother us up here. I don't think were Doug is got hit to bad either. I haven't heard from him in a while I'll have to send off an email to check on him.
