F450 woes

I would like a '65 F series with a Cummins. I liked the body of my old '89 F250, but that '65 body was best. Always thought it would be cool to mate two cabs to make an extra cab, or crew. And 4x4.

You can get those old trucks in crew cab but they are rare.

I have had my 97 PSD for 15 years and it's not going to break any speed or towing records..... but it's been a reliable work horse since the day I bought it.

i knide even like the ld boxy look of the ford f350 .. when did they do the body redesign? 96?

Do you, or have you ever watched Trucks tv, one of the powerblock shows? They Put a late 1970's Ford crew cab body on a Dodge frame. Cummins/5speed. They decided to add the cluster/steering column from the 1997 (I think) Dodge. Tney did a nice job.

To the OP ,Im glad you git the truck repaired without hassle, many Ford dealers are requiring all PM records to approve any engine relaled failure with over 75K miles...Just remember, you have a new short block and turbos, not a new engine,so your injectors$$$$ are still original and very expensive, and likely your next major bill, could be 3-6K easily),so keep that in mind, that engine is super expensive to repair, and you may be money ahead to grab a left over 2012 with the new trucks the 6.7 is way better on fuel, alothough im not convinced its a better engine, the head gaskets are a much better design, and a single turbo is better for ease of repair, and cost. If you decide to hang onto it,Id switch oil to Shaeffers x9000 supreme, its cheap insurance, and really isnt that expensive, the 6.4 is very hard on the motor oil,it sheers it really bad compared to the cummins, dmax and 7.3 ..

Can I get Shaeffers online? I am friends with the owners grandson, he demo'd their oil to me years ago, but he moved back to St. Louis and I haven't been in contact with him. As much as I like DELO it wouldn't bother me to use Shaeffers either.

I was gonna post an update anyway. I have put 1100 miles on the truck since getting it back, the majority with the trailer attached, I have a lot of work to catch up on not having it for 3 weeks. I hope it keeps running this strong for awhile.

I just looked I can order it online, the freight makes it unreasonable though. There is a dealer 50 miles from me, not that far off the path to a customer that I service fairly regularly.

Shaeffers is a great oil. I run into guys at the pulls and it's the oil of choice with most of them. One of my buddies pulls with modded Case-IH's and Dodges and runs it exclusively.
It's harder to find, but worth it.
