F450 woes

I guess it is the same as tractors, shop dealers over brand. I would buy another Ford strictly from my experience with my dealer. Oh and no truck today either, primary turbo is bad (I told them I thought it was, but they had to get it running to know for sure) I'll have it back tomorrow, lol.

yes, the primary turbo was mentioned to me as something else that will grenade on my truck. If I purchase extended warranty, they'll replace it once it grenades.
Sounds like they're investing thousands into repairs.
How many miles on yours? I'm at 55K and problems have been happening since 40K.

A good dealer makes all the difference and they are the ones who make it through tough economic times due to the customer loyalty. My local Ford dealer has a very bad reputation on used cars. Never heard any complaints on new cars or service but because of that I drive 60 miles each way to buy from a honest small town dealer.

Chris

I agree. There's an army base in my area, so lots of "auto malls" and mega stores close by. I drive 45 miles to an old Ford dealer who's been in business since 1916 in the same old brick building.
They've proven themselves to me in the past if there have been problems. They can usually match or beat the big guys pricewise also.

You are right Brian. I had a great dealer with my problematic Dodge 2500 Hemi and because of that I would buy another from them. On the other hand I had to get a lawyer twice to get satisfaction with my S-10 Blazer and I pretty much hate lawyers.

I guess I'm lucky in that the best Ford dealer, for both sales and service, in this part of the country is less than 2 miles from my house; a dealership that's been there for 56 years; not in the current location that long, but in the same county.

I have 91,000 miles, I bought it 19 months ago with 41,000 miles on it. I pull my 17,000 lb 28' gooseneck trailer with it nearly everyday. The only other repairs I had were the high pressure fuel pump, and the 4wd shift motor and module.

yes they do.. My local NH dealer helped me out a few times. after my 7610s was out of warranty I discovered a defect in the hyd valve packs. A very spendy piece of gear. it was obvious it was a manufacture defect as one of the pilots in the valve pack simply did not work.

the dealer found me a used pack off a more or less newish machine that had front end damage from a collision. got me the parts at about half of new, charged me very reasonable labor and a transprt fee. I had them re-oring all my hyds and connectors while in.. kit was only like 15$ of orings.. and I think I had them throw on a fan belt. price for all was half of what I would have paid for the new part by itself.

dealer does make all the difference.

I lost my pump at 51,000. It was NOT covered under warranty. Said it wasn't part of drivetrain!! I heard they all go before their time.
How do you like the way your's tows? I tow a Big tex dual tandem, usually about 8-10 ton loads. Usually cross scales at about 35,000lbs.

Not sure how they justified that. Mine was covered under the 100,000 mile engine warranty. I bought a 3yr, 36k warranty with the truck and never used it other than to pay for rentals while the other work was being done under Ford's engine and powertrain warranties.

I love how it tows, I will probably trade this one in on another newer one.

I think I'm actually getting my truck back tomorrow. So not only was the primary turbo bad but so was the secondary, along with the radiator, I'm also getting a new lower radiator hose, coolant recovery tank, and the updated thermostat system. So I should be good for a few more miles, lol. I still love this truck, probably because none of this came out of my pocket. Being without it for 3 weeks has really sucked though.
