You other gents are right....the Unimog IS the ultimate truck.

And for commercial use on road or for towing, my money would go to Hino before I ever buy another overpriced piece of junk from Ford/GM/Dodge/International. Heck, I won't even buy another International heavy truck now that Cat engines are no longer available. The MaxxForce is the powerstroke of class 8's LOL!

:thumbsup:Yep $ for $ in their class/size it's hard to beat Hino's balanced equation of overall performance, value, runniing costs & reliability.

The ecoboost so far has been a good engine. I think it will continue to be a good engine. Ford did exstensive testing on it. The GM Ls engines are not as good as the Ford mod motors.

By mod motors do you mean the 4.6/5.4/6.8 engines?

If so, that is crazy! That series of engines pales in comparison the the Gen. III/IV GM engines in nearly every measurable parameter.

Did Ford steal it or did they use a similiar design? How many ways are there to make a gas engine direct injected? I am glad Chrysler or GM never copied Ford.

Thats all they do. Ford has led the pack for 30 years in trucks and GM and Dodge are trying to catch up. I will admit GM did so on this last generation of HD Diesel trucks.

They violated laws by stealing the exact design and used it. But being it is Ford, that is ok. The ecoboist is unproven compared to the LS Engines. Only after they can put the same miles on the odometre with ZERO failures will it be in the same league as a 5.3L,,

I will agree the 5.3L is a good motor but its just at the back of the pack in all categories when it comes to V8 power in trucks. Heck, the little 4.X liter motors by Toyota, Dodge, and Ford had as much power as the 5.3L motors. Then you throw in oil consumption problems and there you have it. I will admit I know a lot of guys with the 5.3 and only one has had a major failure. Broken Cam.

I hope they learned the does and dont's about putting injectors in the valve covers. The 05 Dmax I had employed this design and it is the main reason I will never own another bailed out GM. Do some research on this engine and you will see there are some things to be questioned and many features employed that are just as Ford has done.

The Ford 7.3 and 6.0 engines also have the injectors under the valve covers.

I know. I just was stating that GM better get it right this time. I had a 05 that had all sorts of injector issues. My 99 7.3L Ford and both my 04 and 06 6.0L never had a single injector issue. I know its coming due to the age and millage but the Dmax 3500 I had started having injector issues a month into it.

Sounds real weird as only the early DMax engines have been known to have many injector problems.

Even the CR Cummins have the injectors similarly located.

Atleast the DMax and Cummins don't rely on the absurd HEUI system to handle the injectors.

Also the DMax engines have a much better reputation for reliability and durability than either the 6.0 and 6.4.

I swear, this place cracks me up.

Everyone has their opinion Peacock, if I listened to everything Diamondpilot said I would sell my 05 Duramax yesterday but it is the best rig I have ever had and got several trouble free trips up and down the alcan towing 20+k loads back and hopefully has a few more left in her.

He is a wealth of knowledge about towing and towing vehicles, you just gotta take it all in, temper it with what you already know and make your own opinions.

Well said....I would also prefer the GM bashing would stop. It's grown very tired. Like you said, towing and trailer info from Chris is very good, I'll just pull whatever with my own preference.

After only a few months of membership, I'd say it's downright dysfunctional. lol  The GM bashing here is probably keeping away a lot of people who would like to post their positive GM and Dodge truck experiences.

Maybe this is how it looks afterwards. Around $70K if I remember correctly.

Yes. The 5.0 coyote is a revision of the mod motor.

I don't beleive there was any gm bashing going on. We started talking about gms problems because the same old saga of the powerjoke is no good was going on like in every other thread that talks about a truck.
