Mahindra Paint Fade

   / Mahindra Paint Fade #31
Paint fade is a very complex problem. All colors fade differently. Even reds fade differently. Some fade towards Yellow (pink) others fade towards blue. The exact Mahindra color fades to pink. To combat this, you have to vary slightly in the color so that it fades towards blue. This is an extremely over simplified version, but that is the scoop. You won't see any loaders produced by KMW in the last several years that fade to pink. We made the change quite some time ago.
My 2005 KMW loader and backhoe aren't exactly pink - just extremely pale red. It would be nice if they matched the red on the tractor.

Sadly, I don't have to see it to know what it looks like. I wish there was a good solution, but alas there isn't. How many hours do you have on yours now?

I'm getting close to 600 hours. I have waxed everything, and I believe it really helps. The backhoe has to spend its life exposed to the sun, but even waxing it seems to help some in retaining color. It doesn't really bother me. Someday someone else can repaint it if they want. I'm just thankful to have the equipment. The KMW, (Kansas Machine Works), loader, and backhoe have proven to be exceptionally good.

Thanks everyone for the replies, keep them coming :)
Also looking for Mahindra dealers opinion on this.......LAWALLSTRACTOR.......MahindraDon......DavesTractor and any other dealers.

I can't remember dates, but around 2008 they addressed this problem. When a JD fades, it is lighter green. When a red tractor fades, it is pinkish. Not good for most of us guys with sensitive egos.

I don't know if all plants and all implement/attachment manufacturers "got the memo" at the same time. And each plant has different processes and much to the chagrin of the dealers, it seems the colors differ a little between tractor series. So there is not a clear demarcation regarding a date, but it has been nearly 5 years since changes have been made. It took some time to get the older stuff through the pipeline due to the big economic downturn, but I doubt there has been any Mahindras sold for the last couple of years with the old paint formula. That being said, I'd still park in a shed if you can, but I do that with my cars as well. Even good high quality automotive paint appreciates the shade, and I think even though we have made great progress, we still aren't up to automotive grade quality across the board.
