That's a good "not in my back yard" (NIMBY) story. The Chronics went from harmless, to disrespectful, to a nuisance the closer they got to Ms Ambivalent. What do you want to bet that she still considers you to be Mr Intolerant? I'm glad the Chronics are gettin' their 'come-up-ances.'

:laughing::laughing: I can't believe I am remember what I am about to say much less that I am saying it.:laughing::laughing:

Anyone remember the TV show The White Shadow from the late 70's and early 80's? :D

There was one scene where the principal/vice principal woman was talking to one of the players, or maybe the coach, over being liked and disliked. She said something like, "25% of the people will like you for the right reasons, 25% will like you for the wrong reasons, 25% of the people will dislike you for the wrong reasons, and 25% of the people will dislike you for the RIGHT reasons. You only need to worry about the people who dislike you for the right reasons."

That set of lines stuck with me all of these years. Surprisingly accurate and from a TV show!:laughing::laughing: I looked up the show and Steven Bocho was one of the writers. Maybe he wrote the lines.

I have used the lines on the kids when they had similar issues.

Later,
Dan

I don't have trespassing issues that I know of but hunters on state owned properties adjacent to us seem to like to setup on the fence line. Last weekend we were driving our acreage and ran across a bow hunter standing in the brush next to the fence. Didn't see him until we were very close to him. As we drove by he stepped out and started walking away from the fence. Not sure why the fence line is so popular. Sorry we ruined his hunt but he has 8,000 acres to hunt and why setup next to private property lines. The state owned property has signs on the fence that says beyond this point is private property and the owner must be contacted for permission prior to entering. Why setup in an area that you may not be able to fetch your animal or at least fetch it legally.

I think on old post that I had mentioned this so maybe a update also. The neighbors lived 1/4th a mile away in trailer house and the family consisted of his, hers, and theres, kids and each kid had at least 2 dogs. not counting what the adults had.
Always yelling screaming and swearing at some one over nothing just LOUD folks.

Working on a 200 amp speaker system one night down loaded the screem of a bob cat. and turned the speakers toward the house and at full volume played the bob cat twice. Silence not a dog, kid or adult made a noise . The next night they were at it again so did the same and heard the doors slamming as they went inside. With in a week they had moved the trailer was gone and trash was spread over 1/2 acre another neighbor had purchased the property and was cleaning up. stopped and asked what happened. Said they were scared to live there any longer.sold cheap good riddance. Didn't know any more.
So maybe will keep the c-d ready for next time needed.

Megafantastic story! You should write a book.
Chapter two; It's not cool if I find you ankle breaking drunk, staggering around my yard fishing at midnight in late December. (or ever)
Chapter three; I almost called the cops when your boat pulled away from my yard at midnight in August. I never thought that it was just you, going to harvest your illegal crop.
Chapter three; Yes, what you are doing in my yard is called poaching (and trespassing).
Chapter five; That stuff you took from my yard, belongs back in my yard.
Chapter six; Please don't hit the house or run over the flower pot (again) when you are turning your car around on my lawn.

I think I cemented myself as Mr Intolerant when I took exception to her husband driving golf balls over my yard into the lake. I was going to let it go until he shanked one off my boat lift. That'll be chapter seven; Don't throw garbage in my lake.

Dan, the 25% of people who dislike me for the right reasons still have my respect and courtesy. If I get half of that from them we'll be fine. :)

Ken, when I lived south of Ottawa there was a big coyote fuss in the papers and local news. It sure did keep the kids from getting into mischief after dark. Now with talk of "cougar" sightings I just may have to resurrect the 240W per channel amp that I built in highschool. Thanks for the idea.

I like to allow people to leave with their dignity and I do reflect on the absurdity of some of the situations with humor. At the same time I do make an effort to get along and to be very helpful, so that any lapse of composure on my part can be more easily forgiven. :)

Thanks it improved the neighbor hood.
Only problem now is the game warden always sitting around in the woods.

Come on Tig, you must have other ways to deal with tresspassers.

Hi All,

I got two trespass stories for you.

First: a few years after moving to our small farm, I look out the window of my house and see someone in one of our trees by the road. I walk out there and ask the woman in the tree, "What are you doing?", The replay, "oh we are just picking deer grapes!" The man was loading boxes of my grapes and loading them into their car's trunk. I informed them to leave NOW and if they ever come back I would call the police!" Later that week I put up posted signs along the road. Due to the damage they did, I have never been able to harvest any grapes there again.

Second: One Friday morning, I was home, my day off, and my driveway buzzer goes off. I look and see a tank truck at the bottom of my drive. I walk down and ask him whats up? He then asks if he can draw water from my small 1/4 ac pond. They were paving my road. I say NO my pond is VERY low from the recent drought. He leaves and it gets me thinking. How did he know about the pond? You Can NOT see it from the road. So I walk up there and I find tire tracks and foot prints down to the pond where someone have drew water from my now near empty pond!

I drive out the the work site and confront the foreman, he drives over and looks. Bottom line they replace the water and pay damages for the fish they sucked up! This guy was only sorry he got caught! There is a gate going in at the bottom of my road to my pond and shop.

"This guy was only sorry he got caught!" -- See that attitude WAY too much, unfortunately. Why aren't people learning that you refrain from doing something simply because "it's not right"? Why isn't that reason enough not to do something? I deal with that attitude almost every day in a Middle School (and yes, I do point that out, when presented the opportunity, with gusto....).

Glad the foreman at least made good on it....

Seems that the most rabid "hunters" and outdoorsmen anre the ones that do not own one single square foot of land..
I posted for several years to no avail... hunters and trash dumpers disregarded signs, left trash bags and deer carcasses.
I then spent a few $ and put cables and locks on entry paths. Took a backhoe and dug "truck traps" on either side of the gates.
Placed signs that said "No trespassing: Leased by Moccasin Creek Hunting Club"
This really cut down the problem.. seems that most locals dont want to cross a "Hunting Club"
