Hey, DP: Have you ever changed the oil in the EB truck? Get back to me on the placement of the filter for that one vs. the 5.3 will ya?

No, the only one I would work on would be my father's and he negotiated in all scheduled service for 5 yrs or 60, 000 miles.

Is it tough?

I think he's pretty knowledgable about some things, but those some things are beginning to diminish due to the obvious bias and hostile attitude that he has towards anything not Ford/BMW/Nissan.

He might be the ultimate alpha guy towing 450,000,000,000,0000 tons per month (he does remind us daily)...I don't care. For someone who does what he says, he sure does spend an inordinate amout of time on this board...Can't figure out how he does it all...Very impressive.

If his Fords/Nissans/BMW's are the divine second coming, he can believe it...I don't, I've had enough experience with all three to know better.

There were loose anti-GM biases before, now it it so blatent that I can't take it anymore...What ever good he has to say has been destroyed in my book now...And I don't want to hear anymore about the "balilout"...Ford's hands aren't clean either...Just low hanging fuit...Nothing more, nothing less.

Time for my own rant...Just sayin'

I have stated on here many times I am disappointed with the BMW. The Nissan and Ford have both been about trouble free as they come.

If you need to tell yourself the GM bailout is ok. Hope you sleep well. Do some research and you will see just how bad it is. Ford did it the right way, plain and simple.

As far as the time I spend here. I usually transport 3 or 4 days a month. In the spring and fall it gets real busy for a couple weeks. There have been days where I have moved 10 boats in a day. My pilot job averages 12 days a month. For example tomorrow I depart my home airport at 9:30 for a 1:40 flight to Shreveport. We then sit from 10:50 (time change) till 6:30n almost 8 hours of nothing to do, at which time we depat for home, another 1:35 flight home. I do about the same on Wed and that is my week. So I have plenty of time to get you guys going and give some sound advise.

By the way, yesterday I did a 4 wheel brake job on my MIL's Taurus. Turned all 4 disc and new pads. It a 2010 with 57,000 miles.

Tires were not spinning. Its a rough finish grooved concrete ramp. Only way you will spin any vehicle's tires is if you get them wet on the moss.

I have seen the same thing happen to a Ford F350 diesel but in that case the truck started hopping.

In both cases the trucks were overloaded but the F350 was about 8,000# over when the gas GM was about 3,000#

Chris

Grooved concrete that will not allow a tire to spin, except of course for the vaunted Ford which has so much power it hopped. Give it a rest.

Has anyone told our highway builders about this miracle concrete which will not allow tires to slip? Should save many lives if we use it on our roads.:confused2:

I sleep just fine thank you. Ford's CEO begged for the bailout, in front of Congress (wonder why?).....Give it a rest.

As for an ecoboost, look for the 5.3 to match or better the ecoboost. I do not want turbos on a gas engine. The ecoboost has not proven itself, when they will last 350,000 miles minimum like the LS engines do, then it will be credible. Until then, it is a yuppy engine for a yuppy truck.
.

I have an ecoboost and it is far from a "yuppy truck". Hard to utilize all that power in the city. Yes some Yuppies buy the best available anything and don't use it to its full potential. What motor is in your GMC so I can label you and your choices.

Yes they have tested such sections of highway in Illinois but the sound level and vibration level was too high. They also tested using different angles and textures. They put up signs to warn drivers of the test pavements. I would imagine it would also be bad for freeze thaw and snow removal as well. Excellent choice for boat ramps though as the traction is excellent.

Is this what DP meant about tire spin? ;)

The genius in that truck is as smart as the idiot in the Viagra commercial pulling the horse trailer.

You are right but when he heard the stipulation's he said no. Smart move.

If you read up on this subject the US government owns about 500, 000, 000 shares of GM at $35 per share. Its traded for the last year at around $23 per share. We are stuck footing the bill.

Its not over though. Give them 10 years and history will repeat itself.

I would hope that you realize that I was being somewhat sarcastic to make a point. I fully understand that grooved concrete on a boat ramp is there to improve traction. I would also hope that any reasonably knowledgeable person would know that ANY brand of todays pickups with 340+ horsepower would shred their tires on such a surface, especially when in low range with a 410 rear and that such a vehicle would have no problem pulling a 15,600 pound boat out of the water.

Say what you want but if the bailout wouldn't have happened Ford and all of it's suppliers would have sunk...Economics 101..Ford isn't as innocent as you say...

Give it a rest...it's gotten waaaaay old by now.
