Toothbar side plate gap

I am making a tooth bar for my FEL and I am upto welding it together but I don't know how much gap to leave between the side bracket ( with the bolt) and the side of the bucket. I thought 3mm or 1/8" each side but its only a guess. Too little and it will be too hard to put on/remove, too big and it'll be too loose. If somebody can tell me what their one is it would be appreciated.

I think you got it right 1/8 inch or less.

I'd leave between 1/16" and 1/8" total, not 1/8" on each side... that'd be way too sloppy

Don't worry about too loose. You can fill any gap with washers/spacers.

When I ordered my piranha toothbar, Harry asked for the inside measurement of my bucket to confirm that it was stock, and the brackets were no more than 1/8" inside the sides of our bucket.

In fact, because the bottom lip was a leetle bit warped from prying on BIG rocks, it ended up being a really tight fit needed some coaxing with a 3# persuader pounding on a piece of 2x6 to get it fully seated.
