I thought hard about trading my L3800DT in on a L4600DT after getting it, but the smaller tractor is doing just fine.

You actually build the tractor and components and put the price you want to purchase for. I actually got more equipment at a lower price. Brady Barlow is who does the negotiating and with whom I spoke with after the price was emailed to me.

For augers, look at Ford/New Holland, Deere, Bush Hog and other name brands. Ideally a brand that is carried by a dealer near you for any repair parts/ different augers.

For back hoes, again Bush Hog, Westendorf and I am sure others as well.

Should be a very good tractor.. one thing you should check though. If you think you'll ever use a box blade or rear blade or boom pole, etc and will need a smooth 3 point lift, ask the dealer to put one on the tractor and try lifting it in small increments. The L4600 has been noted to have a rough lifting 3 point, the same as the rest of the L series, and some of the MX's. Yours may be fine or you won't find it a problem, but it's driven some to trade in a very short time. Kubota can't seem to fix the problem, so don't let the dealer tell you they'll "fix it after you buy".

A slip clutch shouldn't be any problem. I take the shaft off mine for the winter so it doesn't rust too badly. In the spring, loosen the bolts and spin it a few times to clean the plates up and you're good to go. I usually take mine apart every couple years to clean it. A shear bolt IS maintenance-free, but you have to replace them when they break. Depending on your mowing conditions you might never have to replace one.

Just my :2cents: here. Kubota has a deal worked out with Land Pride and Land Pride makes very good implements. A PD15 or a PD25 would serve you well for a PHD. I personally would stay with a Kubota Back hoe, but that may just be me. If you plan on doing ANY finish type work using any implement on the 3pt hitch, be sure to double check that the hitch on YOUR tractor lifts smoothly at as slow as you can move the 3pt lever. Be sure to have a heavy implement hooked up when you do the test. You don't want a new tractor that starts out with a problem and then that has to be dealt with.

I bought my Kubota L4400 almost two years ago, I am pleased with it. The price seems okay.

I personally like the Woods backhoes. Lower price, longer warranty and seem to be well made. My local dealer told me Woods also will warranty any damage to the tractor caused by their backhoe for the first year.
