I got the letter. I have an '05 6.0. I have had two or three EGR's, oil cooler, hpop, complete injectors, radiator, and now I'm replacing both heads. I'm only at 84k miles. My dealer says I drive like a granny when he hooked the computer up. Have all scheduled maintenance and take real good care of that truck. I didn't mention that I have gone through 8 batteries and a complete front end. The truck has been in the shop two weeks because they can only locate one head. I have a 6.4 with 65k miles. I bought the extended warranty because I have hemorrhaged money on the 6.0. Ford does get you with the ext. warranty. For about $3600 it covers only 48k miles and doesn't cover some of the diesel parts.. The diesel warranty covers only some of the diesel parts but covers the big stuff but it is an additional $4k. I about fell out of the chair during the sales pitch. I'm frustrated but I like/LOVE that truck and aside from a few minor annoyances, if it had a reliable engine, I would keep it forever. I'm hoping (PRAYING) that the new heads will solve my problems for a long time and allow me to either keep the truck or sell it to someone with confidence that I'm not selling them a headache.
I can't afford any more repairs with the warranty I bought at Christmas on the 6.4 and the $6k+ it's going to cost me in parts and labor to fix my heads. I'm not going to bash Ford because I had a GMC that was a lemon and a dodge that the dealer bought back because of frame issues. I just want Ford to be fair and admit they have a problem with the 6.0. I've talked to several companies that run fleet diesels and they will not use 6.0 or buy one used. That has to mean something.
