Thanks for all the opinions and the last map link is a great sight. It shows 2 channels within a 20 mile range for me one ABC and a PBS...The others are 80 miles or more.So I guess i should be hapy with the two if I'm able to get those.
By the sounds of the opinions of experience here its similiar to what I dealt with 20 years ago.
There are allot of variables , weather, distance, trees, height, direction of the antenna, coax type and legnth, amp or not, water in connections, number of splits to the cable. etc.
I wish now I ahd jept my old antennas and could try them but they were scraped along time ago,I have a bud who has one out back ,I might just get it and get on the roof with a small yv and see what comes in.. then decide if the smaller one linke I posted from ebay would work and take the plundge and give it a shot.
Thanks.

Thanks.

I would do more search and research on that one, I don't like the looks of it.

Murphy, I told you . The highest gain channel 7-51 antenna is the one to purchase.

That is what you need. And try it without an amplifier first.

Most digital TV is now transmitted on these channels:

Channels 7-13 VHF-High: 174 MHz to 216 MHz (Longer elements, bigger antenna.)
Channels 14-51 UHF: 470 MHz to 695 MHz (Shorter elements.)

It doesn't matter what channel the TV station calls itself, the signal will be sent on 7 to 51 RF frequency, with the exception of a very few ch 2 through ch 6 stations.
Where I live there are three VHF-High channels, ch 4.1 and 4.2 use RF ch 27, ch 5.1 and 5.2 use RF ch 7, ch 13.1 and 13.2 use ch 13.

There a few ch 2 to ch 6 stations still on VHF-Low, check the left side of the pages on Website given, to see if you need an antenna with the longest elements, to receive VHF-Low signals.

To find what channel yours is on, click this link: Digital TV Spy - TV Channels, Antenna direction - TV Stations

My antenna is upstairs in a metal building about 40 miles from the towers, and works!

It has VHF elements added to a UHF antenna.

Here is another one that has VHF and UHF elements and works inside my house, behind the TV in a corner.

It is a RCA ANT751.

Does anyone know why trains disrupt the signal of HDTV?
