Besides the Shootist, I believe Bruce Dern did him in, in the Cowboys. Dern's autobiography, they tell me, is entitled "I killed John Wayne". Wayne was kinda pissed that he had to die in the film, Dern said Wayne actually hit him with a real punch during their fight scene.

The Alamo and Sands of Iwo Jima.....I believe!

I might have missed seeing them, but add to the "longer than 10" list: Hang 'em High, another great Eastwood western, Once Upon A Time In the West, another great Sergio Leone film with Henry Fonda and Charles Bronson, The Comancheros (Stuart Whitman and John Wayne). Need another category for funny Westerns - The 3 Amigos.

I really liked Monty Walsh (the one from the 1970's)...though havnt seen it for years.

I also liked the more recent movies such as
1. Unforgiven
2. Tombstone
3. wyatt earp (from the late 1990's)
4. The long riders
5. Rooster Cogburn

I like a lot of Westerns. But, these stand out to me:

High Noon
Cowboys
True Grit(original, although I liked remake)
Hannie Caulder, when the guy hand made the pistols for Raquel
