How many have concealed carry permit to carry a gun ?

In NY the NYPD used them to torture a suspect, soon after they outlawed them for private use. You can thank the police for adding this to the list of weapons that only they are allowed to use.

I don't like IWB holsters and I'm not real fond of paddle types, so most of the time the holsters I wear are OWB, with the snap offs, so I don't have to undo my belt to put them on or take them off.
I have two from El Paso Saddlery (two different carry pistols), kinda pricey, but I like good holsters.


I carry the wallet holster when I'm 'dressed up', it fits in a pants pocket or a jacket pocket easily and the holster keeps the pistol from showing through the cloth.

Dont you have to have an ATF permit for a pocket holster with a trigger cutout? I read taht somewhere on the net here i think? It makes no sense as if you have a CWP you can put just the gun in your pocket so whats the diff if its in that holster?

Walk and talk quietly and carry a big stick. I want that big stick, but I don't want to kill anyone with it.
We don't have stun lasers yet...

How quickly can you get your weapon out and get an aimed round off? That might be an interesting comparison too.

While I am not a pacifist, I think I am like many if not most of us and really, really don't want to kill anyone. If there was a "reliable" non-lethal means of protection many of us would prefer it to a firearm and would carry it in lieu of or in conjunction with a firearm. Even a stun gun, if you could get it, is not "reliable" due to many factors including the one shot capability. I worked around and with Police Officers who used them and heard many, many stories of failure; same with Pepper Spray.

My son worked with a company that provided a wide range of training for civilian, Police and Military with one guy who taught hand to hand self defense and ground fighting tactics. I use to train yearly in disarming techniques and recommend it to anyone who has the time and physical ability, but time changes things and as we age our "options" narrow; only way I could disarm someone now would be to grab it while they were rolling on the ground laughing.:laughing:

This is why so many of us choose firearms; in our opinion, the best and only practical alternative to victimization of us or others. We accept that for most of us, chances of ever needing to deploy them are very low, but not non-existent.

As to speed of deployment, I use to time with a buzzer, now I can use a sun dial.

I have had my CCW permit since they first became available in Texas in 1995...prior to that I carried as legally allowed under the old laws...most of the time anyway....

Pretty much, at work or at home, for my entire adult life, if you see me with cloths on, you can expect me to be armed...

....if you see me without cloths on, you better have permission from my Precious Bride, who is a much better shot than I am....

At home, my carry weapons vary...whatever conceals well depending on the clothing required dictates the choice. I own a variety of pistols in calibers such as .22, .380, 9mm, 38 spl and .357.

My most carried weapon: Keltec P3A.

In 40 years of carry at home, the only weapon I have ever had to draw to defend myself (but did not need to fire) was a .22 Beretta 21A "Bobcat"...

At work, I carry whatever I can find locally....or whatever is laying around on the ground at the time...I am more likely to be carrying old Soviet or Chinese weapons than anything else...tho I had a lovely Webley .458 top-break revolver for a short time...

Most carried weapon: stub-barrel single shot 12ga (as short as the stock will allow it to be cut)...

My favorite CCW weapon: a 1943 vintage Tokarev loaned to me by an Iraqi co-worker...who wanted it to be a gift...I had to return that little gem to the Sheik before I left Iraq, as there was no legal way for me to import it...nor could I work out any OTHER way....

I have a pocket holster and a crossbreed mini tuck IWB holster.

both work great and near impossible to tell it being carried.

I don't know about now, but I used to be able to draw and fire 2 rounds in the A zone in 1.75 seconds all day on demand.. I have seen guys that could do that it half the time. But I never was all that speedy. As I remember it, my best "el presidente" where you turn, draw and fire on 3 targets 2 rounds each at 10 yards was about 7 seconds.. again there are guys out there that can do it in less than 4. maybe faster with compensated guns. I guess John Wayne in the shootist said it best: " It ain't the guy that's the fastest or even the most accurate that wins a gunfight, it is the guy that is the most willing." I wouldn't really know.. I have never ventilated anyone. Or even fired a shot in anger, Came close a time or two.. but that was it.

For those that are CC, where do you carry it. In waist band, in waist band holster, under your jacket in winter in a holster, shoulder houlster, ankle holster?

I most always pocket carry. A Kel-Tec PF9 in pocket holster fits into all of my pants pockets.
