My dealer is notorious for high $ repairs and has left many with a bad after taste. Before I sold the machine to rbargeron I was decided on trailering it to another dealer for repair as 2 others had quoted the job and significantly lower, $3-4K lower which is way more than enough to make me go elsewhere. I told the serive manager everything I have said here and they let me walk out the door without a counter offer or reconsideration. I even pointed out they were quoting a job which may not require splitting the machine, the fact they quoted replacing only 2 sets of parts that combined where only slightly less than a new HST, and the fact they were out of the park absurd in repair cost and low trade in value. I look forward to rbargeron diagnosis as he has the ability and knowledge of a certified Kubota mechanic. My dealer has a HUGE service opertaion, everything from weed wackers to Kubotas to D9 dozers and I bet they make more $ on service than they do selling machines. They even have 2 full time service trucks on the road everyday. By no means is splitting a heavy duty tractor like a L48 a small job, while it is no where near the $ they were talking. I think they were hoping for a homerun, expensive fix and or low trade in with me purchasing a new machine. I did buy a new M7040 with R4s and was delivered yesterday. I shopped around and got them to match the lowest price, interesting where you start negotiations and where you end up. I will be posting pics on the buying thread of the new machine soon.
