A Quote from the above 2000 reference:

"On average, Ornish痴 patients lost 24 lbs in a year and had a37% reduction in LDL cholesterol levels (HDL cholesterol lev-els were unchanged). What is most provocative about this diet/lifestyle program is that there was a 91% reduction in angina fre-quency and a significant degree of angiographically measuredcoronary stenosis regression. It is unclear to what degree otherlifestyle modifications such as exercise and stress reduction, whichare integral parts of the Ornish program, play in these results.Based upon these favorable findings, the National Institutes ofHealth is embarking upon a multimillion-dollar study of theOrnish diet vs bypass surgery in patients with coronary disease. "

It has been 13 years, I wonder if the results are out on the multimillion-dollar study by the National Institutes of Health.

I do know the information in the article about fish oil (now having no effect) has been modified after a large and long study.

I agree we should expect results from a larger Ornish diet study soon. It takes 2-3 years to organize such a large NIH study then ten or so years to collect data and follow up then a couple of years to analyze and write it up so it still may be another couple of years.

I don't understand Mayo Haters. What is wrong with them?:laughing::laughing:

My wifey is a Mayo Hater. You should have seen her struggle at lunch yesterday. There was a limited selection of premade sandwiches and what she wanted had Mayo. From the look on her face, ya woulda thought they had slathered poison on the sandwich.:laughing::laughing:

Later,
Dan

Mayo seems to be available around the world... I like mustard too. Always have to pack a container of mustard when I visit the Philippines. Filipino's don't eat mustard and it is not available, except for maybe the U. S. Embassy commissary store.

Mayo has its place; like on cold cuts and ham sandwiches. Mustard on hamburgers and cheeseburgers only. I'll never forget one of life's biggest traumas...ordered a cheeseburger at a small lunch room cafeteria one time; it was made with mayonnaise and ... horrors of horrors...they used cheddar cheese instead of American cheese. It was beyond fixable.

To each his own! :licking: I cannot stand American or Velveeta type cheese but love cheddar on my burger.

I also learned a life lesson many years ago when I was in a Jewish deli and asked for a pastrami sandwich with mustard and mayo. Almost got laughed out of the place. No mayo in a Jewish deli! (I've since, despite liking mayo, come to appreciate that mustard is the only appropriate condiment for pastrami).

Try a mixture of Dijon mustard and Mayo...then also try horseradish sauce which is a mixture of horse radish and mayo...both are great on corned beef or pastrami...or anything...really..
