Bought my first hand gun!

I own 2 9mms the first is a Berretta 92-Fs and the second is a S&W MP with an integrated laser. for the money I like the S&W it's a great gun and the integrated laser helps me drill hens teeth at 21 feet. It has a slightly shorted barrel that the Berretta which fits nicely in the nightstand drawer. When it comes to simple disassembly and cleaning the Berretta wins hands down.

If you want stopping power and a basic handgun look at a glock. One .45 ACP round will stop just about anyone.
As far as the AR-15. I own a Bushmaster which has a metal lower assembly and will take both .223 and nato 5.56 ammo. I purchased an eotech holographic red dot sight. . Once sighted in I can easily hit a 100 yard target.

Good luck finding ammo. I'm not sure where it's all going but the shortage is everywhere.

AR's are in short supply in most areas;if they are around they want a premium.Same with .223.9MM ammo.Good luck in your search. You may want to look at the Ruger Mini 14 also.

ARs have loosened up here and not bringing crazy money anymore. You can go to Palmetto arms and buy one stripped for $900 out the door. Was at Academy sports the other day and thye have a bushmaster for about $750 a few weeks ago. There just not bringing crazy $$ anymore. Ammo still tough to get.

I have an AK and I would buy it in a heart beat again esp to tote around a "ranch" its way more reliable than an AR, they don't jamb as much etc. There not as accurate as the AR but I don't think your going to try and shoot butterflies with the thing afterall.

Great gun....congrats. Hopefully......ammo will become more readily available and cheaper in a few months....after things settle down.

I would suggest looking at a Ruger mini-14 as well. I have one in a tactical version (yes the evil black rifle). I carry it with me on the farm. Coyotes don't like it much. If I was buying an AR-15, I would look at a S&W M&p 15

I am + 3 on the mini-14!

I wonder how long before they give you the guns so they can sell you the ammo? Seeing all kinds of guns available but no ammo in stores. People tell me lots available at gun shows at high prices.

Congratulations on your Sig..Everyone has a favorite on the AR platform.. I have a DPMS, and have owned a Colt.. as far as I know they are all pretty good. I have seen a million of them when I used to shoot competitive 3 gun matches, and I have seen about every brand. Of course you can start an argument pretty quick over direct gas impingement or operating rod systems, but I think for the average user, the older direct gas impingement is just fine, You just might have to clean a bit more, but with the availability (or lack thereof) of ammunition, you are not going to have to worry about cleaning any firearm much:) What ever you do, don't buy anything that uses .22LR ammo, there isn't any. Hopefully some day there will be again.. Of course the .22LR is the most popular caliber on the face of the earth, and was up until the last 3 months the cheapest ammo you could buy, and was an excellent gateway caliber for people just learning how to shoot, but lately has been "just a bit scarce". It is in my opinion a darn shame, and I hate to see it happen.

What if there were only guns, lots of guns and everyone had say 10 or 15 or 50 guns and NO ammo?!
Seems like there would be no need to take any guns away since they would all be useless.....
Then what?......
