I do the same sort of. Trailer tires are set to max. Truck tires during towing season are set front to about 80% and rears about 90% or a little more. In the winter months they are set at door values for better snow footprint traction.

Well this is certainly interesting. After I posted the 80 psi for load range E tires thought I should actually check my own truck , and low and behold Dodge does not list 80 psi anywhere that I have looked <img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=310931"/>
also when you add the axle ratings together it comes out to a totally different # than the GVWR = 9900lbs. axles added together gives 11350 lbs. tire max added together gives 12780lbs. I can see how someone would have a hard time knowing exactly what they can load in the truck/ haul....and how a person working in a rental yard could get confused also

This is common. The thing to remember in your case is you can not exceed 9900# GVWR while also not overloading a axle.

All trucks are this way including mine. This is important info for guys running snow plows, pulling large trailers with high tongue weights, ect.

I was only joking when I posted before about changing the emblems on my truck...

I know what it will tow and how it is equipped... and tow a 7,000 pound trailer that normally comes in at a little over 5,000 pounds across state lines.

How many think the rental yard will be able to spot Silverado 2500 emblems in place of Silverado 1500?

6650# GVWR is pathetic. 2 men and a full tank and you are illegal with 700# of tongue weight.

My truck with me and half a tank of gas is 5230lbs. That leaves about 1400lbs for payload/tongue weight which is plenty for it's max tow capacity of 8,550 lbs which is higher than Ford's tow capacity of 7,600 for the same setup in 2003. In case you didn't notice, that sticker is from a 2003 truck...
Certainly it could be higher but with two 3900 lb axles, at least there's plenty of safety factored in. If I needed 3k lbs of payload then I would get a 2500/3500.

Difference is Dodge doesn't market my truck as "Heavy Duty" or give it ridiculous payload ratings that might max out it's components.

Well at least you get it now. 1/2 ton trucks are not HD trucks even with a 3/4 ton suspension under it like the Ford HD package. If you need an HD truck, get a 2500/3500.
Nice to see that RAM is still under rated with 3900lb axles front and rear. What size plow does that Ford 3600lb axle take?

With the new air bag suspension, high tensile steel frame, 6 and 8 speed transmissions, etc... they could easily put a 7700lb GVWR without changing the axles or drivetrain. I think they are pushing more towards making the light duty 1/2 ton truck back to "light duty". Truck capacities have gotten out of hand in the numbers war...

It could be lower GVW equals less expensive license fees... at least it does in CA... and trucks over 9,000 GVW are even banned on the Freeway running through town here...

My trailer as two 6,000 pound axles and is rated at 9,990 pounds for licensing.

Im pretty sure that is max gross weight with vehicle weight. I hardly doubt that they list an f150 for pulling 13000 pounds. That is diesel dually territory buddy. You put 13,000 pounds on a f150, its gonna be sitting at the bottom of a hill with no power to go more than 5 mph and its gonna have you facing hefty fines

I don't know about the F150 in question, but the tow rating for my Tundra (1/2 ton) is over 10,000lbs.

FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME, MY TRUCK DOESN'T HAVE THE HD PAYLOAD PACKAGE!!!!! HAD I ORDERED THE HD PAYLOAD PACKAGE, IT WOULD HAVE LT TIRES ON IT FROM THE FACTORY!!!!! Not an option for the rams. One more time, repeat after me, "jejeosborne's door sticker is on a truck without the HD package, had he ordered the HD payload package, it would have come with LT tires directly from the factory"

It is obvious fiat is moving towards light duty. The specs show this.

Plow? I have no idea. I plow with my tractor the two days a year we get snow. The ram 1500 will not accept a plow either so why bring this up? The Ford can with the 6.2 liter because of hydraulic power steering.
