Brandi, if that pond holds water well, it will be a much better catfish pond. It will be better with aeration, but you should be able to keep quite a few fish in it without aeration without them dying of oxygen starvation. It's an excellent looking pond with nice clear healthy lookin' water.
I can't believe how different your trees look. Ours still look mostly bare and are just blooming or with tiny leaves. Yours already look green and lush. I'm always surprised when I drive south to Ft. Worth. Just 70 or 80 miles makes a world of difference in how the trees look this time of year.
Jim,
The ponds have different clarity also. The first pond is all red clay. The pond with the island is white/yellow clay. After it filled and went down the first time, then filled again............it has been holding very water well. It is a lot clearer than the smaller pond.
I haven't put any pond dye into it in months. Just cornmeal..........which is floating in some old red pantyhose in one of the photos.
I'm kinda leery about putting my cats in it, as it is only 7 feet deep. I guess I will, as it is a real gradual slope that can be seined if needed.
I was gonna pump some water out of it into the smaller pond, last night, but I need another 25 foot of discharge hose. I did, yesterday, put in a clay diversion berm from the outlet of the overflow pipe of the small pond to drain into the island pond.
We got a big rain coming Wed and I am going to try my pumping tomorrow morning. Cause I want both ponds full heading into summer.
hugs, Brandi
