My 2660 split one of those boots soon after getting it and the dealer found another when fixing it. They told me I was being too rough on my machine. I've since heard many people say they have had the same problem. I'm gonna give that kid at the dealer my boot next time I see him.:)

My BX2360 is two years old and the boots look fine with no cracks. The L3240 that I just sold was three years old and didn't have any cracks in the boots.I bought a new BX25 back in 09 and it didn't have any cracks in the boots.

Yet mine has cracks after less than two hours of operation just mowing short grass on a lawn so I don't think use is a factor here, perhaps climate or manufacturing or raw material issues affecting some units. Certainly rubber parts other than these look pristine on my new tractor so it seems to be limited to these boots and appears on new units when delivered or very soon after delivery. Fortunately the dealer jumped right on it which is the important thing, I suppose.

It's possible mine sat for a long period in hot weather. Maybe one more clue is that one of my tires developed a small failure and slow leak just after two hours requiring a plug repair at the local Farmer's Cooperative for a total of three dollars and sixty five cents. (I don't know how they make money).

Fortunately the dealer jumped right on it.

When I first read your post, I was thinking the paint on the rubber was just cracking, but nope you gots some cracks. My boots were painted gray at they factory like the rest of the under frame and the paint cracked on first use. At first glance I thought mine were cracked.

Chances are Kubota got some bad ones made with real rubber. Kind of reminds me of the bad valve stems that were all too common at tire shops. You couldn't tell the difference but after a very short time in the sun the real rubber parts dry rot and crack.

There was another thread here a couple months ago where somebody had a steering cylinder seal go out and he had taken pictures of it. When he got it back from the repair, his boots were cracked like yours. They had evidently swapped the whole cylinder out with something standing on the lot. I believe with the picture evidence he posted here, the dealer put new boots on his (or swapped the boots from the "old" cylinder to the "new" one).

I recently bought a BX2360. I have 4 hours on it and when I finished mowing I was going over it and noticed my steering boots were greasy. Looking further I saw they were dry rotted and split.

To those of you that got them fixed. How long did it take at the shop?

I called the service manager and he said they did not stock them. He would have to look at it first. So I'm going to bring it Monday. He didn't sound happy. Kind of like. Why are u calling me attitude.

Probably annoyed at yet another unit that needs to be fixed. At 4 hours, don't back down.
