How does it not stall out going through that thick stuff?? My mower chokes out on tall grass, but i guess its only a 10hp and i am cutting pretty close.

I don't know man. Asked my self the same question. This thing is only 9 hp I believe but it just doesn't break a sweat. Weird if u ask me

I have a wheel horse about the same age but its all beat and collapsed with a seized motor, i may have to put it back togeather!! IT was gran dads which is why i have not scrapped it yet, although it will be pretty costly to revive it with a motor and all 4 rubber!! What i need is to find a doner junker or something with a motor and tires.

Part of the reason it may not stall, it that you have the transmission in Neutral. So all available engine power is going to the deck. None is being drained off to propel the unit. Provided of course the deck belt is in good shape and can take the full torque of the engine and the blades are sharp too.. Sooner or later you will hit something thick enough to find out!

i just had my deck off my 15yr old murray swinging ont he cherry picker using a sledge and block of wood to reform the right front 'corner' profile of the deck after finding a tpost sheared off int he pasture. brush mower must have chopped it near the fence line and left just enough post up for the lawn mower to find it while i was cleaning up the fence line. mulched the blade.. and the blade ate a line into the deck and the deck was bent.

luckilly newblades for that old mower are 9$ each.. and a lil grinder and hammer and beating and it's .. well.. not back to good as new.. but back to working and ugly.. :)

machine already paid for itself and 50 bucks hardly puts a dent on my pocket anyway. I know its not safe but neither is driving a vehicle on the road anymore around all these teeny boppers texting and driving and swerving into your lane. It is my thing and I will keep having at it till it breaks. No bad blood but I figured you probably wanted an explanation

Heck if it weighs what you said at 300lbs you will get $30 for it selling it at the junk yard. In that case your only out $20 from te original purchase.

If scrap iron is worth that much, some of the hillbilly's around here must be rich, their yards are full of old mowers and such junk. Of course they would never sell any.. they are just amassing their wealth:laughing:

Scrap is dropping in price. One scrap yard this week was $8 a 100# and another was $9 100#. The guy at the scrap yard told me he thought it was going to drop more.

No, I would run the crap out of it and when I was done with it I would scrap it or sell it.

If you could dump it over a cliff of some sort, it would be more exciting! :)

That sounds like a good plan, then you can still scrap it.

I had a customer that changed his own oil in his mower. He forgot to put the oil back in it:laughing: I ended up with it. I was going to crush it with the grapple but somebody bought it off craigslist.

LoL... That's awesome! Just a little suggestion; if you trim the front of the deck to where its open like a bushhog it will work better. With the front fully covered it holds the vegetation down until the cutting edge of the blades have already past over most of the plant.

Before you drop it with the loader and blow it up you should drain the oil and see how long it runs.
