i had valves on my 4000 ford prior model stick so bad they made artwork out of my pushrods. :)

Now that's a stuck valve!! I have seen that a lot on Forklift Engines too.

push rods bent so bad i had to take bolt cutters to them to get them out of the head/block

I messed up the GM 4.3L in the 1998 S10 showing 524,000+ miles due to a sticking valve. It actually was a very quite engine but per the guy that put the last 300,000 miles on it as a escort for a mobile home delivery service it had been parked for a while.

Now if I had to do it over again when the sticking was intermittent I have put about 8 oz of Sea Foam and not got it over 2000 RPM until the sticking at around 3500 stopped after testing after each oil short change. It has seen most of the miles in 5th gear on the interstate so I expect when I made them travel a bit more than normal the build up lead to binding. I think this would have been a good case for using something like Mobil High Mileage .

It was a project truck but some 4.3 engines make it to 700K+ miles so it made me sick to blow my first engine after all of these years.

Got back on cleaning up the Polaris 325 engine on the outside and the last thing tonight based on this thread I pulled the plug (was not even tight) and with a funnel got it to hold 4-5 oz of Sea Foam. While the engine seemed to have a lot of power I decided it was a good time to soak the piston and rings from the top side. When drain the oil before I start it again I am going to add 3 oz to crank case per info on the can so the oil pump can flow Sea Foam through the ring groves. I think I am going to back flush the oil cooler for a while with 140F water out of the hose and may pick up a gallon of E85 to remove any trapped water in the cooler. Putting a lot of detail cleaning on the fins of the engine so they will cool better too.

My pap pap always said sea foam was snake oil.

Pretty just it comes from crude oil and not snakes because we buy it by the gallon sometimes.

What do you do with it? Drink it?

How to Help Someone Who Has Swallowed Gasoline: 7 Steps

Do not ever think about drinking fuel plus it tastes bad.

To treat gas for the winter in the motorhome at one oz per gallon takes half a gallon and the same for the two ton F700 truck for example.

Sorry your pap pap was not knowledgeable about Sea Foam that has been on the market for about 75 years. At least you have Google.

Sea Foam will not fix broken stuff but will clean out a gas tank, injectors, ring groves, etc if used as labelled on the can.

Dear God

Did a quick oil level check this AM to see if it seemed higher before work to see if the 4-5 oz of Sea Foam for the piston 'soak' had flowed past the rings into the crankcase. I could not visually see it higher in the fill hole but not sure 4-5 oz would make much difference in the total crankcase level. This evening I will pull the plug and see if Sea Foam is still at the top of the spark plug hole and refill if not.
