Question about tractor choice

Would you suggest one of these over the other: 2006 Kubota BX1850, less than 500 hours with belly mower $5000 or 1999 NH TC-18 650 hours with belly mower $5000? I'm guessing the newer Kubota is the better deal but I have zero knowledge about either of these machines so maybe the 99' NH is a better tractor, I really don't know.

I would probably go with the BX but that is not seeing both tractors. I am not sure but I think the 50 sereis BXs had a problem with a abrupt stop. I think there were updates to the hydro to correct it. It is something you may want to research.

If a 318 is junk, a cab "bx3030" is junk. If you can turn heads in that. How come a JD 7230R can barely turn any heads? What kind of world are you living in. I guess the heads are being turned from the young ladies are because your driving on the wrong side of the street, and swerving all over the place?

Welcome, JD6400NZ. Of course you're right about those old 318's... they have been great machines for lots of folks. TBN has been remarkably free of the typical internet stupidity over the years, but sometimes you have to set up an "ignore" filter.

Unless you are going to perform all of your own maintenance and service check with the closest dealers of whatever brand you plan to purchase. Dealer support is critical in the event of mishaps, breakdowns, parts, and also attachments, etc. Look for reviews of the dealers, but take them with a grain of salt.

For what you're describing, the BX sounds about perfect. I would actually really like to have something in that size for some of the more typical chores I have that really don't require the bigger machines I own.
