Hopefully one of the other 5 will be able to give you the type of satisfaction you are looking for. I'd make sure to tell them this story first so they know your expectations.

Better yet - hopefully they've read it here already. And can be prepared to offer the OP the level of service he expects.

Still going on about this?

I know it was scratched, but at the same time, it's an implement.

When I picked up my #18 cart and brought it home, I noticed a big scratch on the front of it where something had rubbed through the box. I didn't say a word or make a big deal out of it. I brought it home and I fixed it myself with some JD paint. Should I have let it slide? In this case, yes. I need my dealership on my side when making future purchases, or seeking warranty, should I need it. If I stand there and make a big stink about the paint being scratched, the chances of me receiving the best possible treatment down the road are slim to none.

Should a dealership get away with it? In a word, no. Damaged is damaged. My point is this, pick your battles, because you never know what kind of fight is waiting for you down the road.

I think this is lazy dealer. If item was damaged in shipping they need to make claim and have trucking company pay for repair. If dealer damaged it in shop they should repair it. I bought 1026 with fel, blower, mower, jd forks etc
Spent all money and dealer also made all money on me. We wanted me to take all scratch up set .headboard of forks had rust and forks where all rusted. I told dealer I will not buy tractor . I pay for set of forks and he ordered me new set. The forks where damaged in shipping. If you pay top price you should get new stuff.

Calling scratched damaged on an implement is fussy. On a mirror - no.

With a spreader paint is a major component in there life span. I generally think that with a loader or ground engaging impliment its no big deal, But a spreader is going to get rusted through very fast with out a good protective paint.

I know spreaders sold in the 80s and 90's were painted but would have thought new Frontier Spreaders would be powder coated from the factory to avoid this kind of thing... and if painted it would be at least an epoxy..??

Some things like a 2 post lift I bought actually came with touch up paint and a note stating that scratches would happen in shipping ... i am ok with that

but a new Premium spreader is going to come into contact with ionized products , acids and bases all kinds of things that LOVE to eat metal... and after reading about the fizz?? can over powder coat

I'm with the OP it just isn't done... and it won't stick..(for long) I would put spreaders in a whole different category from every other Frontier piece of equipment when it concerns the type of finish on it.. and what should be considered acceptable

Powder coating causes metal cancer. Better to have paint. A spreader will need the inside of the container touched up in the agitation and metering area after every use.

I can't say that i have applied powder coats- but it sounds like the OP stated that the spreader WAS powdercoated from the factory...
I had heard that powdercoating is more abrasion resistant than any paint??? and yet it sounds like the powder coat was scratched?? maybe inadequate preparation ?? And as far as powdercoat causing metal cancer - if true there are a lot of classic car owners who spent thousands having the chassis and and hordes of other parts treated this way.. Imagine their dismay...
