Piranha tooth bar!!!

Hey Whistlepig! The Piranaha teeth look sharp but they aren't razor. They do great at digging, grabbing roots, vines (like ivy) and ripping them out. I am not sure what you are thinking but are you wondering how the teeth 'grab' above ground? I don't have the situation to test that but I wouldn't count on it to replace a grapple or bucket w/thumb. If you are talking about ripping brush out just below the surface, then it is a winner.

We have a small woods in the center of our pasture. A ravine with trees so to speak. From this ravine comes honeysuckle, blackberries, and other stuff that is encroaching in on our pasture. I have been shaving this growth back with the straight edge of my loader in the spring and in the fall. I think a Piranha bar would do this better than the straight edge on my loader do to its sharp edges. Overall would the Piranha tooth bar be better than a Long tooth bar for shaving brush and digging? The replaceable teeth on the Long verses the sharp teeth on the Piranha? I would rather replace teeth than sharpen.

I have been looking at tooth bars. I have never owned one. I like the sharp edges on the Piranha bar. I think the sharp edges would be good shaving down saplings and brush where the brush is growing from the woods into the pastures. Just wonder how long these sharp edges would stay sharp on a Piranha bar. Is it better or as good as a Long tooth bar for dirt work?

If by shaving you mean cutting sapling and brush off flush with the ground, I have not found that to be how mine works on my property. The teeth tend to bite into the sapling and brush, forcing the wood into the V notches which allows curl and lift motions of the FEL to rip the stuff out of the ground. Results vary by size and soil conditions. When everything goes well and the saplings are not too big it takes them and most of the roots right out.

If the dirt work does not include soil with a large percentage of large rocks it will usually out perform a long tooth bar. The design is great for cutting soil loose and digging.

The Piranha would do great for your application. I doubt you'll need to sharpen the teeth....can be done....but won't be necessary. Go for it......

I doubt the ones with replaceable teeth would do any good vs undergrowth. The ratchet rake isn't sharp but it has lots of teeth. I think pirhana bar works on the same principle.

Shaved or pulled out of the ground matters not to me. As long as the brush is gone! It looks like the ideal tooth bar to me for doing this sort of brush removal.I do this a lot in the fall. That is what is attracting me to this tooth bar. This is good soft farm ground here (finally). Rarely a rock after digging a couple hundred post holes here. One last question. Can you back drag with it?

Back drag.....yes you can. Now go for it....you'll be happy!

Exactly right! It should rip the blackberries and other small vine stuff right out of the ground. I can't see sharpening the bar. If you get a little below grade it works wonderfully! To me, the large tooth bars aren't needed but that might because I have a BH if necessary.

I run right through raspberrys and other underbrush with a non-toothed bucket.. They rip right out. Hardest part for me is not to get stuck with only 2wd :)

Strange with all this talk, I have yet to see any video's of this bar in action?
